New ground and state of art training as well. Ways around FFP this has been shown and you can inject loans into the club. All those names you dropped as well would be spreading the clubs name on global scale as well this would generate more income (look what Ryan has done at Wrexham) Another thing SP has not pushed (US owners yet not pushed to that market even a club shop over their) There would be little interest in Palace I'm afraid. Even Celtic FC who have massive support here have no club shop or to that matter GAA which I've always found strange

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but I think it misses the point. If Harris is worth over billion individually and can lead a consortium paying billion to acquire an NFL team then plainly he can afford to get us into the Champions League and reap the rewards of his investment in Palace when we do. Every investor knows that you have to put money in to get money out, hence the name "investor". We're not in the Champions League more or less because Harris doesn't want to be, not because he can't afford to take us there. As for his being a minority shareholder, so what? That's hardly a barrier to progressing the club; there are a myriad of ways that can be dealt with.
It doesn't matter how much he is worth if all of it is tied up in other businesses. NFL is nothing like Premier League Football. He did invest in the club but people do not like he hasn't thrown money towards transfers which had been said day 1 from SP he was not their for that. The way I look at it is SP gave a sales pitch with most of it being BS (The guy doesn't want to fund anything himself) with the main part being about the ground (They are sort of stuck now because it doesn't look like candidates are lining up to take shares off them otherwise I expect he would have been gone a while ago) minority share holder invest lots of money that would make no sense.

As others have said, buying an NFL team is nothing like putting money into a PL club. NFL has no relegation. Washington has been one of the worst US football teams for the past 20+ years, but they remain in the NFL, and somehow are worth $6B today, even though they are a laughingstock of a franchise. Arguably one of the worst run pro sports franchises in the US. Also, NFL teams have salary caps, so expenses are fixed. Every team pays the same amount in salary, and gets (mostly) the same amount in shared TV revenue. Bigger/better teams get more money from ticket sales, but that pales in comparison to national TV money. Basically, the NFL is lucrative for its owners, whereas the PL is very risky and can be a money pit for owners/investors. Baseball is more similar to the PL, because there is no salary cap, so you have rich owners of the NY Yankees, NY Mets, and LA Dodgers, willing to blow ridiculous money on their teams. They are all losing money each year. But again, no relegation, so there is no downside to owning a baseball team. It's never going to decrease in value.

American Billions are different to Arab Billions American money is built around stocks, shares, leveraged debts, guaranteed income streams, the 'market' and all those financial structures I have no idea about Pumping oil out of the ground and selling it - sometimes for more, sometimes for less is a totally different thing The wealth doesn't compare. It's just a play thing for the owners of the petro nations for their own ego and glory. For the Americans it's a business proposition In conclusion, Crystal Palace can't be a great one or many more millions would have flowed our way the past few years. But 30 years ago neither were Chelsea and some idiot Yank just brought them for £4bn - what a plonker

As a number of posters have said, with FFP in place (in its current format) we need to increase the match day revenue in order to be able to (pro rata) spend more on the team, Harris / Blitzer invested funds into CPFC, at least some of which was in order to build the new stand which would increase match day revenue, its hardly their fault that the stand has not been built. Harris / Blitzer could be well within their rights to be sitting there saying, when the stand is built & match day revenue has increased enough to be able to invest more then give us a call.

Steve - Sometimes its the timing of the post, stick something out there at the wrong time, everyones at work or down the pub, its a topic that needs some thought to reply instead of just a few words, it quickly gets relegated to the bottom of the pile & drops off the screen in favour of easy one line posts - happens all the time - Originally posted by stevethenorm
