Police timing of enforcement would suit the Conservatives, as is puts the SNP under scrutiny at a time the Tories want to be seen higher in the polls. Would set them up for a GE if they could make some significant gains.
However, the guy is innocent until guilty in court. Wee Jimmy must be in a right state.

I believe the charges arose from the SNPs own enquiries - so it's not some outside conspiracy. There had been murmurs for maybe two years or longer.

This won't play well.
The SNP auditors resigned in October and weren't replaced.

The SNP has a history of financial mismanagement / scandals e.g. the new Scottish parliament building, Edinburgh tram system, that ferry that is still not complete etc. etc.

So far they have got away with any real scrutiny with Wee Jimmy and Alex yelling Braveheart and blame the English. Perhaps now the Scottish voters will start to look more closely at the competence of the SNP.

Am going to enjoy this shameful story as it unfolds.

Karma would be Sturgeon sharing a cell with a woman who has a p****

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Not any better news for the SNP now the accountant has been arrested.

"SNP treasurer Colin Beattie has been arrested by police investigating the party's finances.

Mr Beattie, 71, has been taken into custody and is being questioned by Police Scotland detectives.
A spokesman for the force said the arrest was made in connection with the ongoing investigation into the funding and finances of the SNP.
It comes two weeks after former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell - Nicola Sturgeon's husband - was also arrested." (BBC website)

I think wee Jimmy Krankie and husband might be needing new underwear.

I detest the woman, but this recent scandal plays into the hands of Labour.
You do have to wonder when both she and Sunak are now being investigated just before local elections and a general election getting closer.

Just how neutral are these investigations?

This gets worse by the day. It seems clear that she jumped before she was pushed. The video from Sturgeon about keeping noses out of the parties finances says it all.
