Marvellous just what we need. Parish’s obsession with ex players isn’t necessarily a great thing. If he has upset half the players they are hardly going to be overjoyed he’s back. Someone who failed in management at Cambridge United. If correct then this has all the markings of Parish trying to appease the fans. I loved Shaun Derry the player. But he’s not Shaun Derry the player, he’s Shaun Derry who pissed off a lot of the players (allegedly). Apologies I’m a right grumpy git at the moment. Can’t believe how badly this season is panning out after the promise of last. I would say typical Palace, but it’s still annoying and was avoidable will a little more investment in the team. Our football is virtually unwatchable at the moment and SOMEONE should tell the players! They certainly haven't earned the inflated wages they've been paid.

Of course you are right Cryst having witnessed all of these we still have a decent chance of staying up. What concerns me is we should have either acted earlier or not at all. It smacks of a panic move and my concerns are we are now even more likely to go down than before. Talk of appointing Roy or getting Shaun Derry in is almost comedy. What a place to leave ourselves in. Not often I have much to say for Watford but one manager is out and one is in the next or same day. It seems we have sacked Vieira without even sounding out a replacement first. You might do that in November but not in the middle of March. Bringing in a temporary manager is a sign of desperation and potentially ruins next season as well. Especially how long it has taken Parish before to appoint a manager over the summer before. Still we will still all be supporting Palace whatever league they are in. You're right, it does smack of a panic move. It smacks of somebody thinking the fans would be calling for PVs head after the Brighton loss and trying to appease them, rather than thinking logically.

True but Roy was safe. Granted but what a bore. Football should at least get the adrenaline flowing. Under Roy I needed it injected

I would not mind Paddy & Derry for the remainder of the season. And that they will look past Ayew and Schlupp when putting up the team.

From a rumour I heard, so unsubstantiated, Derry read the team the riot act in the dressing room after the Everton debacle and this was something PV apparently didn’t want to do. No. He didn't want Derry to do it as it wasn't his job as it was PV's responsibility

Presumably SP put SD on gardening leave because he already had doubts about how long PV was going to be in charge. Originally posted by Spiderman
Apparently SP put him on gardening leave, rather than sack him. Undermining PV? Didn’t Parish criticise fans for their obsession with ex-players? Seems he is the one with the obsession.

Under Roy I needed it injected His job was to just keep us up no frills with the squad he had at the time, investment here and there on the pitch hasn't helped our better players one bit, so we need someone like him to organise the players for a nasty battle that isn't going to be pretty to watch and one which is again nothing to do with the manager.

Judging by the number of posts on here calling for PV's head both before and after Brighton, Parish was correct in his perception of what a large number of fans were feeling. But that doesn't make the sacking right. I can't get out of my mind Kompany's take on the whole affair: "Vieira was over-achieving", given the terrible run of fixtures we'd come through. I wonder whether Parish will start to suffer "seller's remorse" if a suitable replacement can't be found.

I don’t think that was a rumour. It sounds a little old school, almost Warnockesque but when performances are awful it needs to be called. I guess Derry being down the coaching pecking order meant it wasn’t his place to be berating the players, and it does indicate it perhaps wasn’t Patrick’s way. Given the situation we’re in I’m pleased he’s at least an option in the coaching department given that it’s looking like there isn’t another manager about to take the reins. In the modern game there are a lot of back room positions to fill, and even if he is coming in temporarily to bridge the gap that has to be a good thing.
