Steve Gibson has been the owner since the Mid-90s so it must have been some while ago !

I have not visited Middlesbrough itself, but I have a friend whose 'Pied a terre' is in Yarm and I have made the long journey to visit him.

It was in the late eighties and I ran a few companies on behalf of Alf Duffield who was Chairman prior to Steve Gibson.

Yarm isn't far from Middlesbrough and is a rather nice town

I’ve been really impressed with Chuba Akpom this season and think he’d fit in and do really well for Palace. I’ve just turned the telly on to watch him play against Cov City in play-offs.

He’s from London as well.

Chuba Akpom was signed by Neil Warnock for under £3 Mill from a Greek club and has scored 28 league goals for Middlesbrough this season.

He is of course a striker by trade but has been played as a No 10 by Michael Carrick. He likes to drop deep and be at the heart of the action, he doesn't like to be without the ball for too long a period. He is certainly fleet of foot and difficult to dis-possess and his goal tally is impressive.
He is an Arsenal supporter and is a lifelong friend of Alex Iwobi.

Middlesborough drew away yesterday in the playoffs so they are edging towards the playoff final. I don't see Carrick selling Akpom if Middlesborough get to the PL

He looks like a good £12m sort of player. Would be great to have in the squad for that sort of price and I’m sure he’d love a return to London.

Let’s spend some serious money on a right-back and a creative mid-fielder this summer.

OK so do feel I have to at least respond to the critique of my home town/area.

It is a northern industrial town which has seen its factories be decimated over the years (ICI and British Steel being lost were a massive blow to the town). It has and does suffer from this, a lot of social deprivation and unemployment. So yeah central Boro is the worse for wear.

However it does have some good areas. Nunthorpe and Marton in Boro itself. It has the relatively new and very nice and expensive Wynard just to its North West (pretty much where all the footballers live) and has some gorgeous little towns ad villages around it, Yarm and Great Ayton whilst is also only 15 mins away from the North Yorkshire Moors and all it's villages.

So that is it from the pseudo Middlesbrough tourist board lol

Borough didn't make it, therefore it's definitely game on. Clickbait rumour about Palace's claimed interest in Akpom. Could be Akpom's agent of course! Probably is

£15m is a decent price. With Olise and Eze in the side he can easily hit 15+ goals a season.
