I'm still in the IN camp, but I don't think those who think otherwise are idiots. For me we have been fine margins away from things going in our favour, from Wilf being an inch offside, Mateta hitting the bar from close range to the ref giving Brentford an extra minute to equalise. Even yesterday we almost earned a hard won point. How close we've run the top teams gives me hope against weaker opposition more of these fine margins will go our way. If I believed there was a manager who wanted to come to us, who would keep us as solid defensively while also scoring goals and providing entertainment then sign me up, but as it is I think changing the manager now would be detrimental, distracting and could create disharmony in a squad that on the surface seem happy with Vieira. Whatever the case, like Willo after too many Shredded Wheat, we could be in for squeaky bum time in the final months.

Imagine creating a thread whereby you call all others idiots, slate our players and claim the fact we’re playing opponents in the same league as we are and the that we’re only losing games by a couple of goals and not more is basis for emotionally defending a manager after we’ve not won for months and aren’t even having shots on target.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Yes our stars are not good - no win this year - no shots on target in 3 games - but look at the scores 1-1 against team in 3rd ,1-0 against team in 2nd - we are not a top ten financial club so why do you idiots think we can compete & easily say sack the Manager - grow up & jog on Edited by waddy (12 Mar 2023 4.40pm) I was on the fence and don't tend to look at stats in isolation. But every one of our attacking stats is absolutely dreadful as is the football to watch. We also have two of the four most dispossessed players in the division. Even running stats are a car crash and way behind the nineteenth team. If you don't add all that up and question the management and coaching then you have to be off your nut.

The question is really about whether we risk the same negative tactics in the games against teams below us which are coming up soon, or whether we bring in someone else with fresh ideas. We have been so inept in front of goal recently that it must be a something that the board is considering. I don't care if Vieira is sacked or not, just as long as we stay up.

I saw an interview where his entire focus / interest was in Olise's error in giving the penalty away. He came across as clutching at straws.

As the only black PL manager I expect PV to be put in the ‘race quota’ or similar spotlight so I don’t think it relevant TBH. As for fresh ideas, I don’t buy the argument this all lies with the players. Our CBs are very good, Vinnie has had a great season imo, Clyne has gone under the radar and Mitchell looked less impressive but was fine vs City so hope that continues. Joel still there if needs be and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Richards. Midfield options of Doucoure, Hughes and ASL is fine by my reckoning with jimmy Mac to come back. Eze coming back from injury and even Ahamada looking at least willing to drive forward should be considered in front. Wilf not the same player but still Wilf, Olise can produce match winning magic, Edouard has been bizarrely dumped and Mateta isn’t completely useless. If employed properly Ayew still has assets to offer. Yes we could do with reinforcements, yes it’s been a tough run, but still I am yet to hear any convincing evidence for why PV should still be in charge despite the long, dismal decline we are still on or what hope there is for him arresting the decline let alone turning things around. We can’t just change ownership nor can we bring new players in. We are perilously close to the relegation zone and the manager changing is the only viable option beyond sheer loyalty to a belief things will miraculously get better. The fixture list has thrown up a difficult run of games, and the draws against Man.u,Brentford and Liverpool would have been acceptable if we had a win or 2 against lower opposition.

This is a manager who doesn’t know where to turn for excuses so he decided to blame the whole game on Olise where as City should have been out of sight by then. He sounds like a mixture of Moyes and that clown that Southampton sacked, Jones. Edited by EddieMac (12 Mar 2023 9.45pm)
