No it's a really significant stay. We will never win a game unless we actually score goals.

We seem to have virtually no play in the opposition box at all these days.

This is now relegation form. I don't give a monkeys how tight out defense is. That will not keep us up.

While I am on I think we need to bench Olise for a while as he is starting to be found out in the Prem. Ignoring the stupid foul that have away the penalty he has not really added to play in recent games.

How long will PV set up the same formation that does not work? City, like most of our opponents, waltzed thru our midfield. Please add a fourth choice there midweek and let Ayew watch from the stands.

Liverpool dissected ManUre.......yet couldnt score against us.

Even today, our defence was mostly excellent. Against one of the best teams in the World.

i still believe we have the makings of a mid-table Prem squad.....just need to make a few fine-tuned adjustments. But sadly time is not on our side......we need to fix this asap.

i would echo the criticisms of Luka. His disciplinary record is just not good enough, and overall i am not convinced.

Also, i would encourage PV to get us playing a tougher more physical style - at Selhurst. Man City bullied us off the ball today.

the loss today matters little........everybody loses to Man City.

A couple of games ago, I actually thought we were improving. The defence is solid, and centre midfield has improved.

But we have good attackers, who are achieving nothing. The strategy isn't obvious. I see stats like certain players having really high dribble stats, and others having amongst the highest numbers for lost possession. It suggests players are just having to try and stumble their way through defences on their own. No cohesive attacking plan.

I accept the argument that shots on target can be overemphasised. Ie, a shot off the post is closer to scoring than a tame trickle to the goal keeper. But this is not the case for us. The attached image has some damning data.

Both this and your previous show things are beyond subjective opinions. It's staring everyone in the face.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I'd argue any defence can look good when you have zero intention of mounting an attack. Liverpool didn't score against Bournemouth either - the anomaly is the United game. Our setup has everyone back and there isn't space for attackers. With our setup, it is necessary for our defence to be not just good, but perfect. Perfect because we are not trying to score (zero shots on target, plus see photo from Qwijibo) so as soon as we make one mistake in defence, we lose. As we have today. Again.

Secondly, we have to get rid of this 'everyone loses to X' mentality. In the past month alone Bournemouth beat Liverpool; Everton beat Arsenal; Southampton beat Chelsea; Leicester beat Tottenham; Forest drew with City. Our record against the current top 10 this season:

P 16
W 0
D 8
L 8
Goals for 8
Goals conceded 23

Yeah, only Tottenham have thumped us. Woop de doo. It's wins that count. Our points tally and lack of intent from those games is embarrassing.

I thought we were ultra cautious under Roy, but this is “deer in the headlights” tactics …. scared to go forward with any commitment to getting in the box with either speed or numbers. Totally a coaching decision ne set up and starting Ayew compounds the inadequacy of a counterattack strategy

The park the bus strategy is the easiest to coach: everyone behind the ball, leave little space, defend, defend, defend.
The problem Vieira has is that his "creative" players aren't all that creative. Whether that is down to his park the bus strategy or that they are not very good at being creative is a problem for him to ponder. A fresh look at things would help. Take a step back and ask why the ball doesn't go into attacking areas with the frequency needed to win games, and if not, why not, and what can be done about it?

Yes, there is a case for a change of tactics, but if you can't pass the ball accurately then nothing much is going to improve. It's all very well passing the ball around in our own half where you have some space and time , but when we try push forward and inject some pace ( which is not that often),and the opposition close us down, we regularly lose possession.

If we are going to score more goals we will have to get the ball to within reach of the opposition 18 yard box more effectively. So often the key delivery goes astray, even when a player of ours is not closely marked we see the ball placed too far ahead of him, or behind him, or straight to the opposition.
