the McArthur of old was a legend.

not sure what his current fitness is.

i would choose Hughes.

Why not both, and see how long JimmyMac lasts

Hughes, Lakonga, and player be bought from Stutgart. One experienced and but effective; two learning and ready to show more of themselves.

Easier to read - supplemented

Hughes, Lakonga, and Ahamada. One experienced and but effective; two learning and ready to show more of themselves.

Macca could be substituted for the one most likely to get a second yellow card towards the end of the match.

Eze and Olise will need to be asked to get the ball into the opponent's box.

Yesterday was his first appearance of the season after being out injured for quite a while.
He came on as sub for the last 10 mins.
I am certainly not expecting him to start against Man C.

Jimmy Mac sat on the bench for 3 games before he was allowed
to come on as a substitute.
I think there is another James playing for a "top 6 club" who is
2 years older. He does fairly well so age may not be a factor.
Concerned that PV might favour Riedewald

Palace fans seem to be a nostalgic bunch and don't take into consideration a player's longevity, hence the desperate calls for McArthur to return, as if a 35 year old can somehow magically regain the form from 4 or 5 years ago where he managed to play over 30 league games a season, pre injury.
Magnificent servant he has been, but his time as a pro in the PL is up. If there is a coaching job going at the club and if that is what he would like to do after his playing career is over, most certainly give it to him.
Hughes should start in any case.

Jimmy Mac has been a great player, and with a wonderful attitude. Palace should find a coaching spot for him if they can

How many times has Jairo featured in a PV team? Strange comment. McArthur has not played a competitive game for nearly a year

2022-23 5 appearances, all off the bench
2021-22 5 appearances, 4 off the bench.
His only start was in the 3-0 away defeat at Chelsea last season.

Agree on that! Keep Macca on the bench and if necessary, send him on for the last 15 minutes. And please, no Ayew and Schlupp.

Cant believe nobody has seen the obvious . We will be sitting deep and without Decoure will need someone who can read the runes and cut off the routes through our first line of defence

Welcome back Luca

Clyne Richards Andersen Guehi Mitchell

Ayew Hughes Lakonga Schlupp

Wilf

I reckon he could well pick that. Which is made even more depressing because I think there's only one player in that 11 that will score a goal between now and the end of the season, and he won't be here next.
