Not because of his performance - because I doubt that many people outside of the industry or media have actually watched all the movies in which the nominees appeared - but because he supports the Eagles.

Political correctness is often about giving a help-up to a bunch of thicks. Just to make a quota, a gender-quota or otherwise. Helping the people who would otherwise not be well represented. In Ireland we have quotas for Female University professorships and high political office.....not fair , but that's politics for ya.
Harvard etc do not want a class photo of 500 graduates and every one of them is Chinese-american. so they are capping the genius kids and giving a leg-up to the thicks. It's like excluding Messi from your squad cos you already have a few white men.
