This made me laugh. For those of us old enough to remember world of sport it was a poor man's Grandstand so was ripe for a bit of mickey taking.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

You always got the impression that Dickie Davies with his little grin was always up to something naughty when not on camera. Ironically it was the more boring Frank Bough who was.

My favourite bit of World Of Sport as a kid was the wresting and the teleprinter. Dickie Davies was certainly one of the most recognisable faces on TV back in the Seventies.

Ironically it was the more boring Frank Bough who was. Today Frank Bough would be lauded for wearing women's clothes and given his own BBC series. He'd hardly be unique in the media for taking a bit of 'candy' either. Maybe the use of prozzers would still be a bit of an issue though. Naga Munchetty would no doubt pull a face! enjoyed the Benny Hill clip, he often had Dickie hiding a bottle of sherry behind the desk as the camera turned to him. Benny Hill also made Cliff Michelmore and Magnus Magnusson look like complete nasty b*stards.
