SW19 - CPFC,

A nicely presented base for discussion. Sad to see that some are not wanting to debate - just nit pick.

The point (again) is that there are several major, cumulative factors that have contributed to the situation, of which, and I mention this clearly above, Labour is a major player. But if you want to interrogate the issue properly you can’t just go full partisan.

Also the debt on takeover from the tories was nearly 900m, not 700m as I’d assumed above. its an important point but frankly it’s not always about tories vs Labour… to simplify it to that and only that all the time is lazy. This is a much broader issue of mismanagement and marginalisation by all parties at both council AND government level over many years.

All the detail is there in the accounts and historical policy making, eg the decision to start hacking away council grants in 2010 and some councils suffering more than others (Croydon, -70%).

Start by countering or discussing the breadth of the points made (ie the whole issue) not trying to constantly turn this into a Labour/Tories are worse so they’re drossfest. I’m more interested in all the reasons why, the chain of events, than partisan point scoring which is of little value to anyone.

Christ even more alive. You're not four. When will you understand when someone is taking the rise? Maybe if every post was plastered with emojis it might help?

One factor is employing people for their ethnicity rather than ability.
Big enough elephant ?
Croydon council do not do meritocracy, they do diversity.
Great dancers by s***e administrators.

Nothing new... partisan, unobjective and poorly considered dross from the usual suspects

And patronising superiority from the others.

Post-rationalising an inadequately thought out reply as 'taking the rise'... I think you need to work on your understanding of the phrase and what qualifies.

There is a distinct lack of wit and intelligence on this forum.

Bring the level down and you get what you get. Debate the subject properly and there's no issue. if you're unable to understand and interpret some level of detail beyond headlines and partisan drivel you're going to get taken apart (and rightly so)

There are a handful who can actually create, sustain and contribute to a constructive conversation on here. Stirling for example, is one.

There is no nuance in incompetence. You can either do the job or you can’t and they clearly cannot. I really do not understand how you can even contemplate backing them and I don’t care what has gone on in the past, as the current encumbent should be there to improve things not make them worse.

Please do show me where my post was in any way related to backing Labour.

Constant spinning away from the subject and back into labour vs tories

It's not a great trait

'I don't care what has gone on in the past' I mean, says it all really. Utterly illogical

I'm struggling to see how this relates to the specifics of my post. Feel free to expand / join the dots

Tbh you should re read your posts if you don’t know. The bit where you mention factors. This point happens to be one of them. Employing people to hit quotas regardless of whether they can do the job, then maybe not considering replacing them during the legal probationary period with some one who can do the job regardless of the minority/diversity etc mould. in plain English this is clearly a FACTOR, your word, which has put Croydon council where it is. Not the only one granted but spending your constituents money in a sensible way, whether on wages for useless employees or renaming streets should be at least a consideration. Does that join the dots for you ?

And you need to work on your understanding of others' motivations. If you were right I'd freely admit it and have done before.

You take the level up and I'll bring it down but fair enough let's all play by your rules.
