As others have said, hard to know if Vieira will start new players. When you look at our team, it's still glaringly weak in areas. Edouard or Eze on the left isn't great - I'd prefer Eze but we will start with Edouard who has demonstrated several times that he can't play there. Neither is strong or fast or going to go on runs. Still no striker and poor full backs. No one can be relied on to be on the end of anything. If they were, they usually somehow hit it straight at the keeper, against the bar or wide.
Ironically central midfield now fine. We should try something different and pack the midfield and play the mid block - but we won't. Olise likely to be our only outlet and he just doesn't seem determined or strong enough to carry a team like that. I guess Ayew could start - does work sometimes/rarely: good work rate - poor decision making.
Central defence is ok - hardly world beating but solid.

With Schlupp and Ayew starting on the bench I feel good about the game.

With Wilf unavailable that has freed up one extra place that wouldn't have been there otherwise and gives an opportunity, with the 2 new signings, to try something different.

It would not surprise me if the starting eleven are those who have started for us this season with Messrs Sambi Lokonga and Ahamada left on the bench.

I look it this way - clearly from our business in the window - central midfield was identified as a real issue - we all knew that..!!

Good thing is that PV would have had time to work with the new recruits.

Personally I see Ahamada as a starter next to Doucoure - everyone seems to have forgotten that McArthur is fit and training again - so can see him coming in. With Lokonga to come on when as inevitably will happen McArthur runs out of gas.

I'm a tad disappointed we didn't address the right back issue in the window - just how long has that been going on for..!!

On that I think if Anderson is fit we'll see Richards playing right back - we can't play Ward against Rashford he'll get rinsed..!!

That said I'm happy that we now have a plethora of central midfield options.

Up front I still think there is a player in Edouard - to my mind assuming we stay up - he now has 18 games to prove that my faith is not misplaced.

So with that in mind I'd go;

GK: Guaita

RB: Richards
CB: Anderson
CB: Guehi
LB: Mitchell

CM: Ahamada
CM: Doucoure
CAM: McArthur

LW: Eze
ST: Edouard
RW: Olise

Just a further thought Eze like Edouard to my mind has 18 games to prove himself - great talent but ATM just goes missing for too long in games - needs to assert himself more.

Just some thoughts..!!

I don't know of any manager that would immediately start new signings. PV will look to start as many of the team that drew recently with the odd necessary change.

I was thinking the same. I'm pretty sure Roy had new recruits on the bench for a few games before slowly introducing them.

And me. However, given that we only have Sambi Lokonga for a maximum of 18 games, I expect him to make an appearance off the bench on Saturday with a view to starting against Brighton.

I don't like Eze out wide, and think he is better more centrally. Unlike one or two comments I think he is a fine player but can produce more than he has. Maybe a radical thought but I'd like to see Olise played wide left and asked to cross the ball to our strikers rather than wide right and most cutting inside to shoot with his left. Palace has been a graveyard for strikers in recent years and I think that despite often playing with 2 wide men we don't create much for the strikers, because the wingers almost always cut in and try to score themselves. I think we would score more if our wide players were more focused on creating than scoring. Of course without training in that formation it won't happen but I'd like to see Guaita Richards Andersen Guehi Mitchell - Doucoure Hughes - Ayew (r) Eze Olise (l) - Edouard with potential to bring on Schlupp for Ayew and swap wings, and Lokonga and Ahamada to bring new energy in the 2nd half.

Vieira confirmed at the press conference that Anderson, McArthur and Zaha won’t feature tomorrow.
He also said the two new signings would be ‘in the squad.’
My guess is that neither will start.
He referred to both players offering something different to the current squad highlighting their ability to break forward.
It’s been obvious all season that we rarely get midfielders into the box which is one of the reasons we fail to make and take too many chances.
Hopefully they will offer more mobility and attacking thrust when they’re up to speed.
For tomorrow I expect Edouard, Ayew and Schlupp all to start.
