Wilf rarely gets injured. Why are you talking about his contract situation when he has an injury that will keep him out for 3 weeks ? That player “ deteriorating before our eyes “ is still our biggest goal threat. Even when he is not playing, he is still only chance we have of scoring!

Disagree, it will be his last contract, i think he will lose that desire he has, flip flop time, he has been our best ever player, but we have made so many mistakes extending contracts when we shouldn't have, its time to think with the head and not the heart Well as usual you avoided my question. I'll try again ; what has his injury got to do with offering him a new contact ?

Having said that I will always be grateful for what Wilf has done for us - kept us up on more than one occasion and given us hours of enjoyment. He can still have his statue outside the ground. I don't think he will sign another contract should an attractive offer comes his way from another club. But if he does stay with us, I trust him to give 100%. I'm not sure that his absence will necessarily mean that our existing flair players will flourish. Olise has potential for sure. Eze, in my view, has been a disappointment.

I'm quite looking forward to him being out for a few weeks if I'm honest. Yeah he was popping up with the odd wonder goal a while ago but imo he's not just been poor for a while now, he's been absolutely terrible. His game has always been based on skinning defenders and he's struggled with that for ages now and without that he seems to be struggling.

Whilst I'm not too pleased that he's out, it will give us an honest assessment of what life will be like without him. It will force us to play a different way which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing and it will let us see if anyone else is going to step up. I'd be tempted to fill the middle with energy, Hughes, Doucouré plus ideally a late addition... then play Eze coming in from the left and granted a little more freedom with the others behind him. Olise on the right and Edouard up top. If we can build on the solid foundations of the last two performances then I think we can get through this season... then onto the summer transfer window where we'll need to find about half a squad LOL!
