Wilf rarely gets injured.

Why are you talking about his contract situation when he has an injury that will keep him out for 3 weeks ?

That player “ deteriorating before our eyes “ is still our biggest goal threat.

Even when he is not playing, he is still only chance we have of scoring!

Disagree, it will be his last contract, i think he will lose that desire he has, flip flop time, he has been our best ever player, but we have made so many mistakes extending contracts when we shouldn't have, its time to think with the head and not the heart

Well as usual you avoided my question.

I'll try again ; what has his injury got to do with offering him a new contact ?

I'm with you on this Lanzo. I just wonder how Wilf will react when his dream of European football doesn't materialize. Will he sulk and be the Wilf he was a few seasons ago when he didn't get the move he wanted or will he knuckle down (assuming he signs a new contract)? Personally I think it's time to move into a post-Wilf era and give our new flair players the opportunity to flourish.

Having said that I will always be grateful for what Wilf has done for us - kept us up on more than one occasion and given us hours of enjoyment. He can still have his statue outside the ground.

I don't think he will sign another contract should an attractive offer comes his way from another club.

But if he does stay with us, I trust him to give 100%.

I'm not sure that his absence will necessarily mean that our existing flair players will flourish. Olise has potential for sure. Eze, in my view, has been a disappointment.

it will be the type of injury, if it is likely to be a re-occurring type, then it would effect the outcome of any contract.

But you don't know that and there is absolutely no basis for you to think that.

I'm quite looking forward to him being out for a few weeks if I'm honest. Yeah he was popping up with the odd wonder goal a while ago but imo he's not just been poor for a while now, he's been absolutely terrible. His game has always been based on skinning defenders and he's struggled with that for ages now and without that he seems to be struggling.
If he wasn't Wilfred Zaha he would have been dropped a while ago, although if he was Schlupp he wouldn't of either.
I honestly believe we might look a bit better attacking wise without him for a bit.

Whilst I'm not too pleased that he's out, it will give us an honest assessment of what life will be like without him. It will force us to play a different way which I don't think is necessarily a bad thing and it will let us see if anyone else is going to step up.

I'd be tempted to fill the middle with energy, Hughes, Doucouré plus ideally a late addition... then play Eze coming in from the left and granted a little more freedom with the others behind him. Olise on the right and Edouard up top.

If we can build on the solid foundations of the last two performances then I think we can get through this season... then onto the summer transfer window where we'll need to find about half a squad LOL!
