Fans confuse me. His record is good in a few decent foreign leagues. As good as any striker fans would get excited about being linked to. He’s also a proper striker. Our only one! They are rare. Both him and Eddie (not a proper striker) have had their confidence hit by being benched just as they hit form

Sorry but of the two so-called 'strikers' Mateta is the weaker. Mind you, I have sympathy for our forwards as the service from midfield is abysmal. Haarland or Kane would struggle here. Best that he moves on.

He'll always have a place in my heart for his backheel against Brighton but if we can get some meaningful cash for him I'm well up for him trying to make a success of it in Turkey, which I've no doubt he will.

I do (know why he's not doing very well). He's not good enough at this level. He's 25. He's been under Vieira's coaching for eighteen months now. If his ball retention and hold-up work isn't good enough at this point, it's safe to say it never will be. I like the guy; he doesn't complain, seems like a good character, and gets on the occasional hot streak. But let's not kid ourselves.

His heading is painful. Totally disagree. He never gets anywhere near a high ball so how can there be any pain involved?

Look at what PV has said “we are looking at players that meet the profile we are looking for”..!! Honestly think with Ings - we’ve dodged one - £15M for a 31 year old that one of our peers didn’t deem good enough - that should tell you something..!! Let the spammers take the hit - they’ve what now spent close to £200M in the last 12 months to be 3rd from bottom..!! COYP I agree that Ings isn't what we should be after, but I reckon he'll do well at WH. And they are not short of a bob or 2, so paying 15m for 2 seasons wont hurt them like it would hurt us.
