We have lost our last ELEVEN games against Chelsea (10 in the PL) since the famous 2-1 victory that kick-started Roy's tenure in the eighth game of that season.

- It's time we stopped the rot
- we are Palace and we do the improbable when all around us have written us off
and
- I'm feeling silly,
- so another 2-1 win to Palace, thereby providing tidy bookends to that dreadful run.

Shame they have a game Thursday as we may be playing a manager less Chelsea on the Sunday which may work more in their favour? In truth a poor Chelsea side should be good enough to beat us at the moment. 2:0 Chelsea :-(

We need several things to go our way:

- Potter still in charge
- which means Chelsea not losing Thursday
- PV waking up to 4-3-3 not working
- Our forwards remembering how to put the ball in the net

So a 3+ nil Chelsea win

It is a thought actually that if they do get a good win Thursday it might lull them into a sense of slightly more security and less of a foot on the proverbial pedal.

The words 'clutching' and 'straws' come to my mind but you never know!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Hoping for 0-0 but seeing nothing better than 2-0 loss.

If the stars align and we somehow win, will Potter be sacked, and if so, it would be interesting if we'd entertain thoughts of letting Viera go and hiring Potter if the salary was reasonable.

Optics would be bad coming off a win but with the fixtures ahead and points at a minimum, not sure 1 win is going to mask the painful drop towards relegation zone.

I cant see us getting anything out of this game. Chelsea are desperate for a win. We could not have got them at a worse time.
Our only chance is to keep it goalless for 60 odd minutes then start to hit them on the break just as they start to take a few chances. Problem is, that was our tactic in the cup against them. Look how that worked out!
I see a 3 0 defeat and I am generally an optimist

The sacking of Potter is inevitable and given his proven experience, would probably be more effective at our level, rather the present incumbent !!

By the time we play Chelsea they'll no doubt have either sacked Potter and we'll get to face a rejuvenated Chelsea or he'll be fighting for his job and they throw everything at us.

Predicting Palace results is never much fun but maybe we can play some Palace Bingo to provide some entertainment in the next game. I wonder how many of these things we will be able to cross off.

Palace to miss a sitter.
Palace to miss a penalty.
Chelsea to score an undeserved worldie.
Ref to have a howler.
Concede just before or after half time.
Concede after 90th minute.
Gallagher to score.
Mateta to come on at 80mins at which point we lose our shape and any attacking threat.
Schlupp and Eze misplace a 10 yard pass.
Guaita to fluff a clearance.
Struggle to make 3 consecutive passes before HT.

(Secretly I'm trying to jinx all of these so that we ride out easy 3-0 winners )

Even with all the Chelsea injuries it will be very tough. Hoping that goal difference doesn't get battered.

We will look marginally better, but Chelsea will still beat us fairly easily. We'll get 1-2 half chances that will come to nothing. Chelsea will bury their chances.

I'll say 0-2 Chelsea, with the result flattering us a bit.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

It's always darkest before the dawn - I'll stick with my 1-2 Palace away win.
