I suspect it's if Zaha goes - which is not useful for us. Just a guess.

Villa wasted him with Gerrard seemingly incapable of working out how to play him alongside Watkins. I'd love him at Palace as if he stays fit he's the type of striker who creates goals out of nothing and has that edge about him like Murray had. If it were between us or Everton I reckon he'd choose them though, despite their league position.

He's 30, he only went with your mother cos she's dirty.

Seriously though, hes 30 and some are saying thats too old?! Give him a 3 year deal and he could play for all of it! No short termism there, we cant expect to find someone to stay for 10 years!!

2019-20 42 apps 25 goals

Doesn't tell the whole story as many of his appearances were as a substitute or being substituted. Of more relevance is that he's scored a goal every 129 minutes with a goal conversion rate of 30% and a shot accuracy rate of 65% this season.

Whilst on this subject, looking at our own players, Edouard has the best goal per minutes ratio of a goal every 189 minutes (although 2 of his 5 goals have come in the cup competitions). Edouard also has the best goal conversion rate (28%) and shot accuracy (61%) of all our players.

Buying Ings smacks of panic in my view and undermines the current philosophy re players who have hit the age of 30. Of course, the club may decide that this philosophy is wrong (Kouyate). Having said that, I like Ings and would have liked Palace to have gone all out for him before he moved to Villa.

We did, but he turned us down. He hasn't got a good injury record and isn't going to get better with age.

It’s a yes from me, but I doubt Palace will go for him

Injury record aside, he has the experience and guile which we totally lack. Can bring others into play and score goals.

Depending on price, I'd take him. Can't see Palace making it happen though

No. Sends a terrible signal out to the other forwards when they are not even getting the service. I note Ayew's misses in recent games, that said, Edouard's conversion rate from his time on the pitch is actually ok. Palace fans won't want to hear this, but we need to drop Zaha - he finds himself in good positions but nearly always chooses the selfish option, often good possession wasted.
All efforts need to be made to bolster the midfield. It's our weakest area, and yet is the part of the pitch where most of the game is played. We don't need Ings, we have forwards. Doucoure needs support, from a solid defensive and midfield base we can then supply the forwards.

30 is an obvious cut off point but in his case he barely played for four years because of his knee injury (which could present it's own problems). Who knows, he might be a Phillips, Defoe, Sheringham type and go on for years.
