I used to go to a laundrette by the Post Office Tower at lunchtimes. There was a Hare Krishna centre nearby and there was quite a wait for the dryers when they were in washing their robes.

Sadly, I never did have a bagful of Felicity Kendal's underwear 'that needed a good wash'.

Did you ever go in for your free vegan lunch? I did a couple of times but never took up the orange robe.

No. I used to go to the pub opposite and go back when the washing was done.

My wife and I were married in St Paul's Church, Brackley Road off Copers Cope in 1971. It's the church you often see in videos of play or training at the academy.

We didn't have a washing machine to start with and I used to take our stuff to a launderette in Tunbridge Wells during my lunch break. A nearby pub, The Flying Dutchman, did a good pasty and chips so a worthwhile lunch break all round.

My mum occasionally used a launderette in Carshalton and for some reason I always remember their big, blue Bendix machines. Impressed me as feeling very American.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Knights Hill, West Norwood........ the launderette also hired blue movies, hidden behind the counter.

Kayla did Anfield & Old Trafford

Often miserable places. I was with my mum in the laundrette when John Kennedy was shot. That's my alibi sorted.

What was JFK doing in your launderette?

No, but since I was chatting all things Palace with another regular, he started reading up on Teletex so he could join in the conversation and get to know me...
