I am deeply saddened to hear the news of his passing.
John Jackson played nearly 350 games for our club, he served the club with great distinction and I cherish the memories I have of him between the posts.A terrific goalkeeper and a true legend.
May 'Stonewall' rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends.

RIP Jacko.

First Palace Goalie I saw.
Very much in the Bonetti mould (but superior IMO )

Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

Jacko was in goal for my first Palace game and is a true Place legend. He would be in my all time best 11. I have been told he was a really nice guy off the pitch as well.

RIP big man.

Very sad news. I hope that his family get to read the messages on here sometime.
Thinking back, I always felt short changed if he was not in goal.

My Mum had a crush on John Jackson. A really nice, unassuming bloke and the best keeper never to get a full England cap.
I got his autograph on my maths book once when he was on East Croydon station with John Craven when I was going home one day from school. I had a maths book that said "To Mum" and a signature on its cover all year.

If true, RIP

I too have memories of seeing the great man at East Croydon as a schoolboy. He was a really nice guy and showed admirable patience in dealing with my frequent and probably irritating attention. One day I asked if it was true that he was known as Stonewall Jackson. His answer lives with me still, ‘They call me a lot of f*****g things. Legend.
Incidentally, I don’t actually recall him being referred to as ‘Stonewall’ back in the day, to me he was always Jacko. Up until today I’d thought my question to him was quite original and inventive, a product of my education. Clearly not, another of life’s little bubbles burst.

One of our best ever players. Arguably our best ever goalie. I never saw him in the flesh but heard about him enough. Thoughts go out to his friends and family. RIP to a club great.
