Not quite on the same level but as many of you know life in the DE household growing up was pretty cashless ( & not because we all had plastic charge accounts) so when I got to my mid 20s I viewed a significant level of personal success as being able to make a snap decision to go out for a curry or buy a new suit (or a purchase of similar standing, maybe £50 / £150) without having to save for some time to be able to afford it - Kind of a "lightbulb" moment for me when I went through that period -

I was watching one of these property house buying programmes during lock down and this stuck up couple wouldn’t even consider this beautiful house because it was in Sydenham. They wanted to live in Crystal Palace which the border was literally a couple of hundred yards away. Now I could understand if they were Palace fans, but they weren’t, they just considered it a better area even though this house in Sydenham was the next street

And my favourite. I was on an offsite course with a very arrogant woman who spent the entire week ignoring me or looking down her nose at me or making snotty remarks. It turned out we both lived in Beckenham so I gave her a lift home only she lived in Elmers End not Beckenham and her place was not as nice as mine. Karma.
