I've just re watched the "offside" goal and the reason that they show only the two players is that the GK was playing him onside despite him being in the air. His arse is playing him on!

I can’t help wondering if that goal would have been disallowed if Qatar had scored it. I think we all know the answer to that.

At the time it felt as though everything was being done to find a reason to disallow it - if it hadn't been an offside call it would probably have been disallowed for a high boot on the cross across the box

There are no arses in Qatar. Banned.

Less than half an hour to go before England's KO. Anyone excited yet? Can't say I am. Frankly I'm already missing the ups and downs of keeping an eye on how our beloved Palace are doing.

As far as I'm concerned the WC is an annoying interruption to proper football. At the moment I'm listening to Pink Floyd through a new set of headphones which I think I'll find more enjoyable than watching us play Iran.

But I might just watch the second half. That's how excited I am about the WC right now.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Iran now have a reserve goalkeeper on after the HIA protocols were originally ignored. What can go wrong for England from here on?

Iran time wasting from kick off. Maguire had a clear penalty ignored by VAR then hit the post.

Their keeper hurt was allowed to milk it for time. The referee should have ordered him off for his own health.

Finally England score great header from Bellingham and as I type this Sakho has scored wonderful strike. Maybe not a bad game after all.

I keep trying to post but England keep scoring another great goal this time from Sterling.

The question has to be asked "Who are you? and what have you done with the England team".

The Iranian morality police are on the case.

I don't think any of use were expecting that...

Iran were dire but we still had to break them down. Well done England. Bellingham and Saka were the standout performers for me.

Hoping we can get a convincing win over the USA and stick the second string team out to knock out the Welsh. That would be wonderful.

I used to support all home nations, but seeing as how much the Welsh and Sweaties seem to hate us, f**k em. Hope the US run riot tonight.

Kieffer Moore 'says he "can't wait" to knock England out of the World Cup' and goes on to compare himself with Zlatan. Can barely get in the Bournemouth team FFS.

They were good, and it was much better than the traditional shaky start. However, the defence will need to sharpen up against better opposition. I thought the defending looked quite shaky today.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)
