I was never a huge fan of the WC anyway, less so with this one. More interested in the Palace. As far as I'm concerned the tournament has interrupted our beloved Premier League season and I bet I'm not the only one who's really annoyed about that. Same. I'll watch but it's not exactly fever pitch stuff as of now is it.

I have to admit I have no interest in this World Cup. All the virtue signalling and political posturing has drained any interest I might have had. Yes, in Qatar homosexuality is illegal and they may well have treated badly their migrant workers, but, that is the way they do things. However distasteful we think they go about those things, I feel we have no right to dictate to them what they can and can't do.

I would actually suggest that homophobia in football is probably limited to generations past and anybody so fragile in themselves they’d feel a need to desperately cling to archaic thinking to associate with an identity. I feel most football fans these days, whilst they perhaps would not be immune from a childish joke or chant, wouldn’t be too obsessed by homosexuality in most instances and even if so, would not condone the arrest and subsequent punishments dealt by the likes of Qatar for it. There’s quite a distance between the two scenarios. Anyways, if anybody has as weirder penchant for puns and tabloid newspaper headlines such as I, I strongly recommend you look out for the Mirror’s back page. It’s made my day already Please note - I do jot ‘read the mirror’, I saw it on bbc sport app!

On top of the alcohol ban, Those 'Paid-For Fake Fans' have had their £60 per day spending money cancelled & in the 'Fan-Zones' there is NO drinking water available till 18'30(local time) & even then with a wristband. Same applies to the tented hotels on site, nearest shop open is approx ONE hours walk away' This is getting better & better.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

The lack of drinking water thing is reported on the BBC Sports app - from my own experience out there I would suggest that this is extremely unusual & has probably arisen because its at the very start of the tournament & people have started arriving where certain basics are still being arranged - The report reads that you have to have a wristband (which means that you have checked in or registered) to be able to have access to certain items & they are not going to be available until after 18.30 hours - These fan villages are being newly constructed so there will have been no opportunity for them to have been used before & any hiccups ironed out - they are in effect learning on the job - I would imagine that "paid for" bottled drinking water will arrive fairly quickly once it becomes common knowledge that it hasn't yet been made available - whether that develops into free cold drinking water fountains available to everyone in the fan village is another matter & probably will rely on how much media attention it receives -

Who'd have thought it, a lack of water in the desert. Didn't see that one coming. Next you'll be telling people might get sunstroke if they don't cover up.

Hopefully the organisers will get their act together fairly quickly & the fan experience will improve over the next few hours (the sun goes down, water etc arrives) & they can then start tomorrow with a better feeling - Originally posted by Badger11
