One way or another we'll have to cope without him in the next two or three years.
Maybe the plan is for Eze and Eduoard to interchange on the left - possibly with Olise and Ebiowei doing the same on the right and there's also Rak-Sakyi to come in at some stage.

True but these moments are few and far between and his ineffective ‘gone missing / not interested’ performances far out weigh these. He has been great for our team but he rarely beats his man anymore and gives away possession far too often. He occupies a team place that could be filled by someone who would contribute just as many goals (but more assists). A good percentage of Wilfs recent goals have also been penalties, yet he should be nowhere near them, as his conversion rate is very poor.

Wilf is now more effective up top through the middle as he has lost his pace and fullbacks have him in their pocket when he plays out wide. On the plus side I think his finishing has improved and is the best it’s ever been and I believe he does track back and defend (certainly way more effectively than Eze or Olise when they play in midfield).

Ultimately I reckon it’s the same situation as when all the members on here said Hodgson was the only manager capable of keeping us in the Premier League each year and dreaded the thought of him leaving.

But who would that be ? Who do we have that looks capable of scoring 14/15 goals in a season ? It's certainly not someone already at the club. And our recent striker purchases, Mateta and Edouard have hardly been huge successes.

You said it yourself, he's improved parts of his game.

I don't agree it's a similar situation to Hodgson. We all know that Wilf is going some day and we need to learn to play without him. But while we have him, in my opinion, that's a huge positive for us.

Yes agree with all the above. We have to learn to get on without him at some stage , i do think he will be leaving in the summer if not Jan. Im looking forward to the end of the will he stay will he go Circus that follows him every season . It must be very unsettling for the rest of the team and manager. Eze is already a good replacement. Eduard didnt do to bad on the left wing either . Dont think either player has 15 goals a season in them . IMO of course .

My view on Zaha…
1. Consistency- can’t perform to the same level every game.
2. Age - younger full backs use their speed to ensure he sees less of the ball.
3. Adaptability - being tactically aware that if he is not getting the ball, how he positions himself so he could receive the ball.
4. Temperament - not allow himself to be easily wound up.

Tend to agree with other..perhaps time to use others on the wings and move Wilf more central - he is not a great header of the ball - so perhaps with JP? 4-4-2

Eduoard.

Well if this money driven sport finally lure Wilf and his very powerful skills to Arsenal to test the champions league, then it won’t be long after that the rare talents of Olise are drawn into PSG, whose stable of global ball players would welcome another sublime performer of Michaels talents. Heaven forbid them going, but inevitably their super skills should elevate them to the highest levels.

We currently have three right-wingers (Ayew, Olise and Ebiowei) and one left-winger in Wilf. I would argue the second-half against Wolves was his only good performance since the transfer window closed, but as it stands he still carries more threat than most if not all of the rest of the squad. He normally scores against Southampton, so we can probably look forward to the Wilf/JWP pantomime this weekend.

Eze is a left winger too.

I like Olise, and he’s going to get better and better imo, but right now his defending and awareness of the role is suspect and an obvious target, to put it lightly.

In other words play like PSG do. And look how they perform. 7-2 last night champions league

Are you comparing Jeffrey Schlupp to Neymar?

The only games we've taken points in this year where Wilf didn't have a huge part to play were the two 0-0s. Note that as a team we didn't score in those.

Liverpool - scored
Villa - scored twice
Brentford - scored
Leeds - assist for Eze
Wolves - scored

Not ideally he's not.

Is my opinion too.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

He's certainly not a cm. Was lw in Roy's last season and got himself in the England squad from it.
