Claims that Hunt is planning to 'delay' the 1p cut in basic income tax. Piece of f***ing s***.

As I recall, Hunt was the one that ended bursaries for trainee nurses, putting many off from training and was generally reviled within NH professions. On the subject of 'difficult decisions', caporate tax should be increased to 30%. Do we really think that if Starbuck's, for instance, were taxed at this rate, they'd stop selling coffee to 50 million people, or whatever, in this country? And, if they did, that there'd be no one who want to step into the market to make profits from it? Germany, held up by many to be a more successful economy, charge 30% corporate tax. Why can't multi nationals take some of the brunt of these 'hard decisions'? None of us can hope to escape the pain. I think he will leave NI alone because that only effects the working. I am retired but still pay tax on my pensions and other income. I would not be surprised to not just see the 1p reduction cancelled but the bands changed so that more get caught by the 40% and 45% levels. Expect a windfall tax on energy companies too. It was always just dogma and not wanting to be accused of copying Labour that stopped it. But it makes complete logic at this time. Those who profit need to pay higher tax.

So is £37,700 a big salary as that’s where the 40% starts. Many of the building trades reach this figure so do you think it should be lower? Share the wealth clearly is a thing which you deny.

Hunt's tenure in Health over saw an inefficient NHS become more inefficient and even worse value for money. I am losing interest in UK politics, all clowns everywhere you look.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

You picked a terrible example as Starbucks is an American company that pays just £5m corporation tax on it's profits of £95m and by increasing the tax to 30% as you suggested it would just ensure that more major corporations move their headquarters out of the UK thus reducing our income from Corporation Tax

What does it matter what “trade” people are employed in? What matters is how much. If we need to protect the lowest most then any extra we need to raise must come from the others. At the 40% level it might be just a token but the 45% may kick in significantly earlier to make the point that this is a very different approach. This is all about sharing the “wealth” fairly.

Why the rule about headquarters anyway. Why not just on profits made?

It was an example and many blue and white collar workers hit that figure. People who earn more spend more which in itself is a tax take. Where does it end.
