I'm sure someone will come in with "But he's the most successful coach for 55 years..."

The semi final of the WC and the final of the EUROs were both false dawns. Very fortunate groups and draws (EUROs all in England) followed by tame disappointing performances when it mattered most.

His teams have rarely looked that impressive against competent opposition. Now England are a very tedious watch indeed.

GS has now had 6 years during which time some very fine players have been available. His defensive over-cautious approach has never produced a team that could make your blood run faster.

That all this nonsense has ruined a whole PL season cheese me off more than anything else.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

But we qualify through our group at the WC, as again a relatively easy draw, and all will be forgotten until the 1/4 finals

After England have gone out in the 2nd round, you mean?

Summary of the WC for England:

Bore our way through the early rounds, other teams raise their game against us whilst England superstars forget how to trap a ball. Go out with a whimper not a bang.

Song: Same old England taking the piss (out of their own fans not the opposition).

I'm glad someone other than me has noticed this. England lost 3 out of 7 matches in the last World Cup. They won 3, including 2 group games where they were expected to prevail. They also drew against Colombia with a mediocre performance, before going through on penalties. They played well against Sweden in the QF but were poor against Belgium, Croatia and then Belgium again. Nevertheless this was enough for the manager to be awarded the OBE. Never was the sarcastic translation (OBE = Oh Bloody 'Ell) more appropriate.

We should all remember (according to the latest adverts), that saying nasty things about England players and the manager is no longer allowed as it’s a hate crime and apparently it causes hurt. Utter doggy doo. Not as much hurt as they inflict on the long suffering fans who get to see maybe one half decent performance every 10 matches.

For the gamblers out there that was the easiest score line to predict ever as let’s face it, that is a bang average Italian side who were never going to score more than once and we obliged the remaining part of the bet with yet another zero in the goals column. Dull doesn’t even cover it.

International Football is a complete bore, the only thing that i watch out for is no injuries for our players, and hopefully a couple of knocks to keep Chelsea players out for next Saturday.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Fear not Harry will be wearing his rainbow armband so all is right with the world.

I am sure it will be a great comfort to the thousands of slave labour workers who built the stadiums and luxury hotels. Hundreds of them died due to poor H&E but I am sure that will be uppermost in the minds of the players and the Sweet FA.

As for taking the knee I always thought it a complete waste of time in England because the overwhelming majority do not support discrimination. The one place where it might be appropriate is a country that legalises and criminalises discrimination against certain groups so the players and the Sweet FA decide not to do it.

Time for a radical change.

Sack that dreary, dreadful, boring Southgate and bring in a proven winner, not a loser.

We could do far worse than bring in the England Women's Manager,a serial winner??

Unfortunately, you are correct. She's got more balls than Southgate. Doubt she would be woke enough though.

When people start talking about women managers its time to knock the the whole dreary ,boring concept of international football firmly on the nut .

On the other hand if we played attacking football , which every single player selected does every week for their clubs we might , just might score a fecking goal or two and win a game .

Southgate is too cautious , we need to let these players off the leash and go enjoy themselves .

It's not even tongue in cheek to think it's pretty much the same as Roy. I'm not seeing any difference. Same excuses too.

I've become so uninterested in the England team that I'd forgotten the game was on. Flicking through the channels last night, up it popped, and it took me probably 90 seconds to see what sort of game it was and return to flicking through the channels.
