The Wold Cup - a tournament between representatives of England's hill ranges - is probably the best he'll get.

not the hill for CG to die on though....

I am not intending to be controversial here, but will say 2 things. I think Guehi is a great young player, but has looked a lot less assured at the start of this season than at the end of last. Should not be considered for England currently. And despite all the nay-sayers, I remember in the last Euros seeing the early games and thinking we were not missing Maguire. Then he was fit, and the difference he made was huge, striding forward and picking passes and creating attacking threat in addition to defensive solidity. Also in my sincere opinion dedicated to the England cause. Not at the top of his form currently but should be supported and encouraged, not slagged off. I am sure I will be given a hard time for this post, but the site is all about opinions.

I actually agree.

I think Marc is a superb CB however I feel, much as many did with Luka, he is misjudged in being 'captain' material, he's not quite as 'blood n guts' or 'heart on the sleeve' as many often opine about him. For me he has this season looked slightly less assured than last.

As for Maguire, the United fans have made him the poster boy for all wrong at that club however I have long disagreed. There were many things wrong and he looked just one of many parts in that equation. For England I think he has been very good.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Not sure I've ever heard anyone describe him as that. He's not that kind of player. But that player you describe is becoming very rare in the modern game.

He must have some leadership qualities, He's captained England at every age group, and now at times captaining a PL team at 22. All those national manager and now Vieira.

But I agree he hasn't been performing quite on the level of last season, yet.

I think that came from him being compared to John Terry at some point before he joined us. Fair enough (bold) but I heard that on numerous occasions!
