Lets hope he signs. As much as we are evolving and bringing in better players around him we would be in trouble without him. Scored over half of our goals so far, which is a bit scary. Especially as I don't think anyone in the squad would have scored 3 of those 4. We have won games without him. Yes he’s a very important player but olise and eze can score goals if given the roles. We have youth strikers who with opportunities could possibly step up. This isn’t my green light for him to leave but the gloom if he does is not merited imho fwiw. Get me coat now

Hard to suggest that he is ready to step in to replace our best ever player

He scores because the team is moulded to give him that role. If he goes the team will need to adapt.

You could well be right, however, our Wilf could well have helped, along with the owners, constructed platform that keeps the Palace up allowing others to carry his work. Originally posted by eaglesdare
As much as I love wilf from an unselfish point of view I wish he moved on 2/3 years ago! And played european football and won some sort of domestic trophy! its the very least he deserves. As soon as he leaves / retires we will be back to the championship! we all know this.

We got a lot of history with Wilf. He said he loves Palace. 4 years and we should be good. He’s a super fit athlete and strong. He’ll become a super legend in the premier.

I hope I'm wrong but to me, as a free agent, interested clubs will have no fee to worry about and will be able to increase their offer to him accordingly. I suspect they will be able to blow any contract Palace can offer him out of the water. Money talks and, if they can offer European football and / or a better prospect of winning trophies as well, it will be no contest and he will go. Im not so sure. I get the feeling he is a big family man and would be unlikely to relocate to anywhere outside of London. Now we have off- loaded Benteke (thank god !) he is the clear highest paid player we have and well worth every penny in my opinion.

Last week there were stories of him having meetings with CFC, if they were true it might be interesting to know who he was talking to, are they still there & with the change in management are those conversations still relevant ?

I would always want him to stay - he makes a difference in nearly every game that he plays in and he is still getting better.

I imagine the club will want an answer one way or the other fairly early so they can plan for the future. If he's staying great, if not they can potentially look at bringing someone in in January to begin the transition. If he really is determined to try and win trophies (he's said in the past he wants something to show his kids) then he will go as the best we can hope for is the outside chance of winning a domestic cup. The investment this summer shows we are long way off the competition however good our coaching team may be. However, if he decides he's happy and settled with us then I hope he signs a deal quickly and we can move on. I really hope his performance at Newcastle wasn't a sign of him being frustrated at not moving this summer as we need him to be at his best.
