Last night was a stark reminder that if nothing else we need a midfield dynamo.

If Eze isn't the future then we are in trouble. He had an off day, yesterday but still made space for himself centrally in and around the box. He won't continue to miss short passes to Mateta and decline to shoot from 12 yards out

How I wish Barry Bannon was younger .. even Jonjo Shelvey would add the creativity we desperately lack. Converting Eze to this role is the now only possibility it seems.

I think we have to accept that neither Edouard or Mateta are good enough to start the game, and Wilf, Eze and Olise are our only attacking options. Lucky, then, that we only spent £25.5m to secure their services (plus wages).

Whilst Schlupp and Eze were on the pitch we were dominating them and pushing for a 2nd. It was the exact moment that Pat decided to sub both off at the same time that the game changed. What we do need is some decent back up (so Luka never needs to get on the pitch), ideally a Schlupp upgrade, and PV to be more confident with his game management.
