As stated earlier, same fixtures as us and only 1 point less.

With the lack of spend, the owners must realise they are highly likely to go down and if they wish to be sustainable then they are probably a League 1 side.

Would have thought he had another couple of games to see how it panned out.

I suspect there was no connection between the removal of Scott Parker and results.

On BBC Sport site “ the reality is this decision has come about as a reaction to the comments made by Scott Parker after that game, referring to a lack of depth in the squad and how "under-cooked" they were. And it wasn't the first time Parker had criticised the recruitment and spending - he did it before the opening game against Aston Villa.”

So more slagging off the owners than just results?

Well who’s fault that might be is always open to question just as exactly what Scott knew before he took the job is. But one things for sure having watched their first four games he isn’t wrong, outside of maybe agreeing to not say it.
How many times is this going to happen, manager gets praise for promotion. Manager gets sacked after finding out after a few games squad isn’t good enough for higher level, whether he says as much or not.?

surely the measure of managerial greatness is the ability to do miracles on a tight budget ?

Parker parked at the dole office.

Bournemouth gone ? hopefully

Last season when Parker got Bournemouth promoted they signed a few players on Loan, some were Free Transfers including Gary Cahill, they spent some £11 Mill on incoming transfers and received about £25 Mill from sales.

So Bournemouth are looking for someone who can promise to keep them up without spending any money - I guess that would indicate that whoever takes the job probably needs to talk a good game & have a plan B in place if it doesn't prove possible.

Just read on BBC Sport that Jack Ross Of Dundee Utd has just been sacked because they lost to Celtic 9.0 at the weekend -

Is this now another yardstick by which a manager should be judged / sacked ?

I recall Southampton losing at home to Leicester 9-0, season 2019-20.They went into this game on the back of 3 defeats in their previous 4 PL games and the 'Noise' was about the possible sacking of Hassenhuttl.
Later that season, Southampton beat Leicester 2-1 away from home and Southampton finished 11th in the table.

I suspect Willo is right when he notes that Parker's sacking is not solely related to the 9-0 defeat at Liverpool. Parker has been fairly vocal about his lack of support in the transfer market and I dare say the owners feel disrespected.

If not, it's a ludicrous decision to sack the manager after just 4 games, especially as they have managed 1 win. He might not be a first class coach, but he's not a bad one either.

For sure, Gerrard is in a similar position and if Villa lose to Arsenal tomorrow, he'll also be in the media firing line.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I thought he was doing ok. I always thought he seemed a bit 'thick' but was actually relatively impressed with his job.
Bournemouth won't be staying up so pointless anyway.

He got them up from the championship and they started off ok.

Then 9-0 to Liverpool.

Surely they should not have sacked them in panic teams do recover from being thrashed.

We were done by them 0-7 at home under Roy yet finished half way up.

Funny old game.
