Johnstone

Clyne Richards Guehi Riedewald

Phillips Luka Hughes

Ebiowei Edouard Gordon

I know PV has talked about starting first teamers, but Oxford are depleted at the moment, eight injuries apparently.

Olise needs minutes, Mateta can hopefully get on a scoring streak. Got enough quality and experience in that 11 to beat a League 1 side.

If struggling, I'd like to see Eze, Schlupp, Eduoard introduced.

If cruising, would like to see Killian Phillips and Luke Plange given a run.

A comfortable 3-0 with some confidence boosting would be ideal. I hope we can go a long way in this comp.

Injured, should be back in a couple of weeks fingers X'd. Also, i'd swap Wardy to LB & Clyne to RB

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

For me I'd like us to start off with:

Johnstone

Ward Richards Andersen Riedewald

Luka Hughes

Edouard

Olise Plange Ebiowei

That's on the assumption all are fit.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I agree, If you can't play some new newish faces against a depleted Oxford side I don't know when you can.

I agree too, although similar comments were made before our League Cup 2nd round defeat against Colchester 3 seasons back. Last year (Watford) and the previous year (Bournemouth) there were also calls to "give some players a run", before the eventual defeats.

Trivia: Ignoring penalty shootouts, Palace haven't scored a goal in the League Cup since 25 September 2018. I hope my presence at the game tonight will see that barren run broken!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Could have a strong strike force as Mateta and Edouard might not start against Citeh similar to Liverpool. Ebiowei had some good pre season friendly matches and hope for a good run out for him. Let's hope for a commanding performance tonight. COYP !!

It's going to be very close to being the first team and was last year too.

Johnstone

Ward Richards Guehi Clyne

Schlupp Luka Hughes

Olise Mateta Zaha

Ebiowei, Riedewald, Edouard to get some lengthy minutes too. Wilf only needs 45 mins but he's on top form, is naturally fit so keep it going. He could do with playing with Clyne or Ward down that side given it's our likely get out of jail option if Mitchell gets a knock.

Olise has to start. He won't start against City because Ayew will be left to follow Cancelo around so this is his only chance to get an hour or so in before he probably starts the run of games that begins with Brentford.

Would be nice for Ozoh to get a run out too.

This team makes sense - by all accounts they are struggling with injuries and could have a real B team against us. Get goals early then rest those definite for the City game.
