Every time the opposition has a corner I cringe. Too many times someone shuts off. Reminds me of Pardew’s last season. It seemed like the opposition scored every game from a corner.

Is one side more prevalent than the other? That is, down Clyne's side or Mitchell's? It would be informative to understand what build up leads to the corner being given away. I recall some seasons ago when Barcelona were in their pomp an excellent Bayern Munich side cracked the code by getting down the wings and forcing corners - Barcelona were so used to bossing the middle of the park but they couldn't defend a cross... When you're defending a set piece you have the opportunity to organise and allocate tasks to players. You don't get that when the ball is turned over. From a coaching point of view a set piece should be easier to defend than a sudden transition with players out of position. I agree that we don't seem to have a real leader on the field. I think we're a bit too ' nice ' to play against. Edited by NEILLO (10 Aug 2022 1.22pm)

The Zenchenko, goal was school boyish, in every respect.. and not for the first time.. the time and space he had. To pick his spot was criminal he couldn’t fail to drop it perfectly for any sort of touch.

Two things i think 1, it was a very good set piece Arsenal did, 2, We need a Commanding Keeper who can shout and organise, hopefully Johnstone can be that one.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

It wasn’t clever beyond making use of one of the oldest moves in the game. A move often attempted in junior football. Certainly was when I was a young player many years past. As ever Palaces defenders were crammed between the posts, it needed an attacker to deal with what occurred to easily, they didn’t even appear to know Zenchencko was there, let alone close him down.

A defender on each post would for me be the answer. That doesn't work. They impede the goalkeeper and cannot reach high efforts. Plus it leaves you two bodies light to track runs or challenge for the ball

We ourselves have used the same tactics with Tompkins and also Andersen pulling away at the far post and heading back across goal so should be aware of this, very disappointing that our coaches allowed zinchenko to get that free header back across goal sort it out ffs!
