The obvious one is Brighton.

Ha! You might hope we do, but do you really think it likely?
I wish this rivalry with Brighton would end. It's a manufactured situation arising from the difficulty that Charlton and Millwall have in playing in the same division as Palace.
Brighton has a first-rate manager, is a very well-run club, makes sensible moves in the transfer market and plays progressive football. This constant denigration of the club is pointless and childish. Saying that shouldn't make one any less a Palace fan.

It doesn't look likely right now but you never know. It's nice to have the silliest derby in the league and a bit of a rivalry. I don't agree with the associated violence but a bit of banter adds a bit of excitement to the season, in my opinion.

Who calls it a derby? I've never heard it said. Who are "they"?

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

this is a true rivalry thats been going on since the 80s.
does not always need to be local, although id estimate its about 50-60 miles?
i cannot stand the clowns (charlton) millwall are ho-hum.
I live in sussex, the tesco bag boys really hate us & long may it continue.

and I would also add that Alan Mullery threw a handfull of coins into the faces of Palace fans at that FA Cup match at Stamford Bridge.

Back in the 80's our matches against the Weed were total chaos as the old bill just couldn't cope with it all. As a teenager at the time I remember total carnage... the worst I've seen at football.
When Brighton nearly folded, suddenly they was all supporting Chelsea and gave up on their own team. You know what sort of supporters they have, and I've got absolutely NO respect for them, even though they were gifted a billionaire handshake that saved their club.

After just one round of PL matches, I find it impossible to say just how high up or low down we will finish. However, I expect us to finish above at least three teams because I genuinely believe there will be at least 3 teams who will prove to be worse than us.

Prior to that league game on the opening day of 74/75 season, there was trouble at the Goldstone in a pre season friendly the year before. So you could say that was when the problems started.

I lived in Hove for 30 years. There are some old school Brighton fans still knocking around. You can have a friendly pint and banter with them no problem. Then you've got the guys in their 30's who haven't a clue about the rivalry and support other teams into the bargain. You can't engage with those people.

I ran a junior football club for some years. Two of the coaches are now BHA season ticket holders. When I first knew them back in mid 90's they supported Man Utd and Liverpool respectively. And that's typical of what it's like down here. I can't respect people like that !

I was at a local match on Saturday and seated near me were a group of three gentleman of a certain vintage who had allegiances towards Brighton.

These chaps were discussing our game against Arsenal and not one derided our club or were critical in any shape or form. Had they gallivanted down this path, I would certainly have interjected, tonsils leaving their moorings, coils of smoke rising from my head. They seemed very pleasant human beings.

I feel this year will be a struggle, not because of our game against Arsenal, I feel we be in Everton situation at end off season, team will not gel, last season we had conner, but pre season and opening game off the season seems the team are not reading each other

The main reason for this is the way pre season was ( badly ) organised. The squad did not have enough time to work together.

It is what it is. But with the tough start we have, it would have been preferable to have had the best possible preparation.
