Tayo was the star of the tour, the way he bombed up the left had the commentators in awe. Clyne Ward etc. no complaints about their reliability but question their ages and pace. You have to have something extra in the PL, I question whether we will have it this year, it will come down to Wilf. Actually I would like Mitchell and Tayo together on the left side, Mitchell converted to left back, and AWB converted from being a winger.

Not sure if you're on a wind up, but he only played 56 minutes on tour, 50 of them against United and Liverpool, and that was against their B teams as all of it was at the end of games. Not too sure why you'd be wanting to move the one X factor player in your opinion, Zaha, to accommodate an 18 year old left back into Zaha's position either. Going to leave it here and remain grateful that it's PV and DF making the decisions!

AWB, as a reminder, had no experience of the PL at all, when he was picked by Roy. There were simply no other fit people. We know what happened, he was an instant success. You have to blood them sometime, take the risk, 'mola' is such an exception. I don't know if there is any get-out, I doubt it, a few months away and a call-back option would have been fine. Where is the cover for Mitchell? Nowhere, we have to scratch around probably moving Ward there.

I think the answer is probably Riedewald; anyone remember his man of the match display at left back against Arsenal a few years back? I have always liked him as a player and suspect he will be more than a capable deputy for Mitchell.

It looks like a patch up job, Schlupp can play LB, well maybe he can. But it is not top ten PL, and I am marking my unfortunately marking my expectations down.

Tayo going on loan is the best thing for him and us. He wouldn't have been starting anyway so your expectations shouldn't really alter that much. As I mentioned earlier I hope there's a call back option in his contract as if there was an injury to Tyrick, then Tayo should definitely be given a chance to fight for a place. However, how he does at Coventry will obviously have a bearing on future opportunities. But good luck to him for the time being and I'm excited to see how he gets on. It's a good move. Wan-Bissaka and Mitchell were both 20 when they made their senior debuts so he is well ahead of their trajectories

Coventry is a good interim move for Tayo. They are a side who like to get forward at speed and he will suit their style of play. I hope he gets plenty of opportunities there to play. I think that ultimately he could be better than Mitchell, certainly as a wing back anyway.

Pleased for Tayo Adamarola that he's got a season long loan to Coventry. Let's hope he can quickly adjust to Championship football and nail down a first team place there. Rumour is Rak-Sakyi may be going to Charlton on loan but deal not done yet. I'd hoped he'd get a Championship loan as well but Charlton are likely to be pushing for promotion back to the Championship this year and at least they are on the doorstep. Just been reading the Addicks fansite, funny how the thread about Rak Sakyi turned: 1. Rumour we are signing this kid from Palace, is he any good surely we can do better. They are pretty upset at the moment with their lack of quality signings and don't think they will challenge this year. Yesterday their owner claimed they almost had a Champions League Winner as their manager Charlton fans don't believe him "Stop your embarrassing us" . I wonder what their new manager thinks of that not exactly a vote of confidence.

Just noting under cover for Mitchell that in addition to Schlupp (bought to play left back), Ward (played over a season for CPFC in the EPL in that position) and Riedewald (played very well there for a few games under Hodgson), Chris Richards has played left back. I can't see this issue really has much bearing. Adamarola has done exceptionally well to get a Championship loan at this stage of his career. He shows every sign of being able to grasp the opportunity so let's hope he does. I think it's generally accepted, with hindsight, Rak-Sakyi would have developed further on loan last season

One can see why previous managers from Pards to Roy, possibly PV, have paid scant attention to the academy. Only AWB and Mitchell have come through in recent years. If Rak-Saki and Tayo who have been knocking on the door, cannot progress but get shipped out it is a judgement on the system. Ferguson, tried today, is clearly not a LB, and we should be looking urgently at the market for RB and LB cover now. Roy did persuade Jairo and he did a fair job for a short while, but this is the PL and you get found out.
