I would go more with sprites team but with Johnson in goal and Clyne as Ferguson will not be fit for a full game if ever

Why do you think Edouard will play at CF as he hasn't even played one minute in that position on the overseas tour.

Hi dudes! I'm very excited about the business CPFC have been achieving this off season and allowing youngsters to try their stuff. The holes in the team I believed needed filling have been done! Midfield needed upgrading badly and with Doucoure it's been done. We would have done a lot better last season IMHO if this position was stronger.

So, given our much improved list, what's YOUR dream 11 for the 22-23 season?

Here's mine (for now):

Guaita
Clyne Andersen Guehi Mitchell
Ebiowi Doucoure Eze
Olise Mateta Zaha

Others: Johnstone, Ferguson, Richards, Tomkins, Kelly, Obrien, Adaramola, Ward, Macarthur, Schlupp, Hughes, Milo, Reidewald, Boateng, Rak-saki, Plange, Eduoard, Benteke, Ayew, Banks, Street, Akinwale, Quick, Rodney, Siddik, (the new Irish dude), Matthews,
Guaita/Johnstone/Butland/Martin/

Your thoughts? Your team:

The Bold typed i would be looking to offload, and the underlinded i would loan out, and loan or buy or swap for another CF

Guaita

Richards
Anderson
Guehi
Mitchell

Doucoure
McArthur or Hughes
Eze

Olise
Meteta
Zaha

Subs : Johnstone, Clyne, Tomkins, Schlupp, Luka, Benteke, Ayew, Edouard,Elowebi.

Though, I still think there is another midfielder to come in, and there maybe some outgoings (ie. Luka and Benteke).

I reckon Riedewald will fill in at left back when needed if Mitchell is injured as it looks like Tayo is on his way to Coventry on loan.

I was very impressed with David Ozoh vs Leeds, looks like he may be loaned out to a league one club. Shame that as could be around the first team, but if he’s going to be guaranteed games, he probably is best served going on loan.

I like JPM, Zaha, Olise and Eze in the same team, but can’t see it being used often, only against the weaker teams at home.
Swapping Eze for Connor makes us weaker defensively.

Based on playing 3 at the back for most of pre season I think it could be something like this. I wouldn't be disappointed but it's bloody hard trying to choose a bench.

Eze lined up on the right of a front 3 in the second half yesterday, occasionally interchanging position with Schlupp.
In the likely early season absence of Olise, and taking into account our tough early fixtures, it wouldn't surprise me if Vieira started Eze in a nominal front 3, but with some freedom to roam.
This would allow a more compact and competitive midfield 3 in the early fixtures.
I'm not sure this gets the best out of Eze, but there is a conservative side to Vieira against the top teams which makes me think he won't want to be overrun in midfield.
I'm not suggesting this would be permanent, but just against the better teams.
If not this Vieira could employ Zaha as the central striker as hr has also done previously which again allows a more compact midfield.

Just to clear something up, Richard's primary position is LEFT-sided centre back (although he is two-footed). If there were no other considerations, it's Guehi's place for which he'd naturally contend (and he is not going to displace Guehi, before anyone puts words in my mouth).

My guess is that Richards' appeal is two-fold. First, beyond Andersson and Guehi we are thin at centre half (not least given Tomkins' age and injury history) and we were relatively lucky last year that our CBs went through an entire season virtually injury-free. If that luck doesn't hold, Richards can step in for either of Guehi or Andersson without weakening the team.

Secondly, I think while it won't be our primary tactic, there are times this season (certain games that may call for it) when we will play three (centre halves) at the back. Vieira has already indicated that if he has the players, this approach sometimes fits. So I think Guehi-Andersson-Richards will see the light of day, if not every week.

Lastly, Richards' is extremely athletic and at a pinch, could play fullback as an injury sub. But he's not the answer at either left back or right back at least for now. Lack of positional awareness and rashness in the tackle are arguably the weakest parts of his game at present and those are shortcomings that would be badly exposed at full-back.
