If football continues its upward trend, could Texter become the Bernard Arnaud of football ? A lot of people thought his model of amassing luxury brands under the LVMH header was questionable. Look at him now, Europe’s richest man and his brands have nearly all grown hugely.

I agree with Syd as there are a number of positives in this sort of structure. The most obvious is the use of the associated clubs to act as feeders for the best talent to the most profitable/highest ranking clubs. Also the opportunity for fringe players and young talent to get first team minutes in a good quality league which often will not be as physical as the EPL. In my vew this may be more profitable in the long run than loans to lower league British Clubs. Theres nothing to say that we'd be at the top of that particular chain though. I guess that'd be down to how successful we become, and how much profit we can make...

I think because of the tv money and the money involved in EPL we will be near the top if not top of chain. this is related to problem we have moving on a player like Benteke he will not earn same amount in Belgium or France.

But if he gets Lyon consistantly challenging for Ligue Un, and into the CL - Then they we could Become their feeder club

Jamie Salter is one of his backers and worth billions. I would love it if they brought Harris and Blitzer's shares

This is just click bait so hopefully untrue. Textor has been good for us so far however this does illustrate that if an owner has multiple clubs they may not make decisions that are in the best interests of your club. Charlton fans have seen this with their former Belgian owner moving players and managers around like a chess board.

Let's hope Moody never comes the other way. Dodged that bullet once before. By all accounts Schmeichel has bombed thus far - although to be fair, I wouldn't have seen that coming. I just don't see value in Ramsey or Barkley, their careers are virtually done for - so to gamble on them both seems too much. Just because you can sign someone doesn't mean you should. That's how Man U ended up with Ronaldo, when no other respecting club had any interest whatsoever. So I'd say Dougie has done a better job in the past few years than Moody. The logic of Lyon moving Dougie kind of makes sense, but would he want to go? They'll never be bigger than Bolton, so surely he's better off here. I reckon it's the realm of 'plausible' clickbait that isn't actually grounded in any fact.

I keep hearing about this massive money backing the club.....Still, even when they finish refitting Selhurst we'll have a lower capacity than Leeds do now.....So, while I'm not ungrateful we aren't shooting for any stars here. Also, we have been very sensible in our transfers and invested in good up and coming players. However, it would be nice if some of this big player money resulted in a couple of stars coming here. Edited by Stirlingsays (19 Nov 2022 10.11pm) Why, and like whom? I think the club should aim for a wage structure that avoids the travesty of the likes of Benteke, another player hyped up to be that which he is not and with a crazy wage to match. Also, realistically any true star performer won't be coming to Palace if there are other higher placed clubs involved offering more money.

A friend of my kid brother is in some way connected with the youth set up at Charlton (I think he is assistant to the manager of one of the younger teams, 8 / 9 10 year olds) anyway he was complaining that if a London based kid shows lots of potential at that age there is a real struggle to keep them at Charlton because of the money from PL top 6 clubs, then the draw of the new Palace academy, yes he specifically mentioned the Palace academy as becoming a major headache because when Parents bring their kids to Palace, they get a good vibe from the tour, the set up, the senior coaches at the Academy & the possibilities of a route to the first team & more recently the experience's of Plange, getting moved out to other clubs in the same football family, so for sure its having the desired effect further down the tree - as the years go by if it continues to be managed properly for sure both the academy & this multi club set up could be the pathway to a brighter future for Palace -

They are complaining on there that Danish Dave has cut back spending on the various youth teams, so parents have to wash their own kit, there is not enough kit etc. Charlton have a good track record of bringing young players through so this is an opportunity to do some poaching, they are not happy at the Valley.
