Agree. Most optimistic I've felt about palace in my 30 odd years supporting the club.

All credit to Steve, Dougie and co. They get a lot of stick sometimes...but they've been near flawless over the last couple of years. Onwards and upwards.

Been the most enjoyable season since we finished 10th under pardew will give us a B, positive goal difference, Wembley, 3 players receiving their England debuts, can't wait for next season. Wan bissaka, nketiah, Gallagher on loan again, a replacement for milo and I'd like to see us try and get tarkowski.

Strange season because I think we did better than most of us would have imagined, but at the same time, our final standing and points felt disappointing.

I hope we're able to kick on next season, but we will again need to make good signings. It will only get harder, since Newcastle will be heavily funded with their blood money, and Norwich/Watford/Burnley will be replaced by three clubs at least as good as them.

If we get a top notch midfielder, and a competent striker, I think we could finish higher next season. That's a big if, though.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

The cup run definitely impacted our final points total. Without the semi-final we’d have played Everton on a Saturday when they were going through their worst spell, and Newcastle we’d have had more time to prepare. Another 3 or 4 points from those we’d have finished 8th or 9th.

I also think we have to remember that PV isn't an experienced manager and learning and improving on the job, his main asset is his ability to attract players and his instant respect he has, all in all a good season the key is get get rid of the deadwood and add 2/3 new players. COYP

A good season. New manager, new outlook, new players. The prioritising of replacing ageing central defenders with a younger pairing has been essential; it's there in the clean sheet tally, across the board we look a lot more solid defensively, one reason being we have greater possession stats and play on the front foot. How refreshing!
Close season should see new additions in the midfield zone; Gallagher has shown the limitations of what we have and what we need for us to progress. Individually he was far more essential than any other to getting us to where we were in the first half of the season. Eze is starting to shows signs of the potential he has, and matching him up with a midfield general type player seems good sense. One for PV to mull over, and with his experience I have faith that the right sort of player will be brought in.
All in all things are looking positive!

I’ll admit that I was skeptical of PV getting the job, but I have thoroughly enjoyed our transition away from the siege mentality football we played under Hodgson. Taking four points off Man City and Arsenal, beating a pre-Conte Spurs, getting the best out of Zaha, an FA Cup semi final, and a positive goal difference shows how far we’ve progressed this season.

My only minor gripe is all the points we threw away from winning positions (The Weed on both occasions, Arsenal away, and Everton were a couple of glaring examples), but 12th place is a decent finish.

With the right signings next season, I think we’ll be even better. The PL will get tougher and tougher, so it’s vital we don’t stand still.

"Look at that. Accident blackspot? These aren't accidents! They're throwing themselves into the road gladly! Throwing themselves into the road to escape all this hideousness!"

For me it just feels great to enjoy watching Palace again as it feels like it's been a long while since I've had a whole season of watching us play good football. We have been a bit lucky with injuries, but we've also possibly been a bit unlucky with some results. A strong platform to build on but we can't afford to stand still. A great time to be a Palace supporter.

Hats off to the whole club.

Awesome season, tonnes of promise and potential.

In reality we were only a few more mature performances (to see out games in winning positions) from a very lofty position indeed.

That has to be the focus for next season, convert the good performances into points.

I don't disagree with any of the above. But...

- Bottom half. Again.
- One place and one point behind Newcastle. Again.
- Failed to reach 50 points. Again.
- Finished well below the Tesco shopping bags. NOT again.

While the latter leaves a horrible taste (thanks West Ham!), 2 of the other 3 boxes would have been crossed - if only Wilf had not fluffed that penalty at Norwich.

Fine margins.

On a glass half full basis:
- first ever positive goal difference in the PL.
- fewest goals conceded in our 13 seasons in the PL.
- Only 5 teams lost fewer games than us
- Only the 3rd time in 13 PL seasons we managed to score 50 goals (10th highest scorers this season).
- we played decent football for most of the season and that counts for a lot IMHO after what we've had to put up with in the last couple of seasons (no disrespect meant to RH - he did the job that needed to be done).

Yes, Wilf's slip at Norwich and, may I add, our 2nd half meltdown at Everton, cost us 8th place and about £10m.

Having said that, where would we have been without Wilf's 14 league goals this season?
