Good deal if true. He lost his way a little in recent seasons, but lets not forget the contribution he gave to the club. All in all a great signing for a modest fee. Next up Benteke

Good deal for all involved. His performances have been off the mark for a while now. Not sure I can think of a Palace player who has gone from being so hot to so cold seemingly overnight with the exception of loan signings we purchased (e.g. Reich). When he first joined I thought we'd hit the jackpot. Lost quite a lot of respect for him as the captain of the club when he got caught having that NYE party with Mitrovic during lockdown. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the captaincy. McArthur and Ward seem to be top of the pecking order but aren't guaranteed starters, especially with Mac's injury record. Could be Guehi's. Good post. I think it was nice, and fitting, for Wilf to don it for a while however suspect he is not up for or particularly wants it (based on nothing but my very limited knowledge/observations). I also think without the responsibility he may be a bit more free then he has seemed this season, at times. I have highlighted my preference in this instance. Very good player, will only get better, mature head, respect of teammates, commanding presence and most importantly for me likely to start most games (if fit of course). I also suspect/expect MG to get better as time goes on, already being very good. With the captain's armband I would suggest we either stand a better chance of keeping hold of him or if he does go it will be commanding a far higher price than perhaps without the captaincy.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Heard he got booed by some at the awards night, if true, that might of help make his mind up to go. Great player when he first came to us, but the fall in ability in the last season & a half has been noticeable, he's going back to a club which he knows & £3.5m for him is good. What kind of idiots would go to an awards night and boo one of the club's players FFS?!!
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Someone i know on FB who was there, said that when 'fans messages' were displayed on the big screen, one of them said 'Parish Sell Ayew'.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

My guess is there would be a good contingent of U21's contributing to this kind of stuff. A few seasons in the lower leagues would be good for them to appreciate the meaning of being Palace. I feel fortunate to have actually been present for some of the real lowlights to truly appreciate the still lofty feeling we have now.

I always thought he was a bit overrated to be honest even in what you could call his prime, gave the ball away in dangerous areas far too much and wasn’t up to the pace of the premier league. If you took away the confident way he used to bury penalties, he didn’t really give us much else. BUT he didn’t deserved to get booed, at least he’s always given his all for the shirt

Luka has been a great signing. It was no coincidence IMHO that when Roy came in he immediately replaced Punch with Luka and we suddenly looked a lot stronger in the middle of the park. I always thought that when Luka played well so did the team as he is the midfield passer we have. However, he has never been the fastest and despite only being 31 his decline over the last 2 years has been quite drastic. I think a big 4 year contract at the age of 28 was always going to benefit him more than the club and so it has proved. I'd be a bit surprised if a Greek club could afford his wages, but if true it is probably in everyone's interest to get this deal done. Good luck Luka

My son is now 15, and plays the same kind of role in his local football team as Luka does for Palace. Some years ago my son asked me, "how does a defensive midfielder play best?". I got him to watch Luka, back in his pomp, 3 or 4 seasons ago: disrupt play, regain possession, release and recycle the ball. I didnt tell him to try and get booked every single game though. Right time for him to go, but loved him at his peak.

I hardly want to say this but I've noticed a growing number of premier League dicks at our matches. A day out for them during the good times. They won't be there through thick and thin, that's for sure.

Agree with some of those, but we should definitely keep Jimmy Mac Tomkins and Kouyate imho. We should keep Ayew too, good squad player, works hard...
