Isn’t streaming illegal? Genuine question ! Probably, although I have seen opinions that suggest not, especially when the game isn't available on any UK provider, so is channelled from an overseas source.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

I was very much under the impression that the streamer is responsible in that instance and the watcher is not, legally speaking. If I were to run a stream off Saudi Arabian TV, in KSA, then I would be liable to prosecution or perhaps execution there. If you watch it in the UK, whilst it may be frowned upon, you are not doing anything illegal. I could very, very easily be completely wrong there however, I have no idea where these thoughts came from.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

In the past Sky hired lawyers to threaten people watching these streams pay up or else. The problem is that the data is based on IP addresses and is not very accurate. A number of people successfully challenged the accuracy of the data e.g. "never watched football in me life." One person won in court as they pointed out they pay Sky the full amount but as this was a Saturday game it was not broadcast in the UK so they paid a streamer for that as well. In other words Sky couldn't prove they lost revenue. Anyway they got a lot of bad publicity with very little success so realised that the smart move was to target the providers and try and shut them down. I have heard that if you use a VPN it is very difficult to trace you so whilst a site may be blocked in the UK you can access it if your VPN shows you are in another country. Anyway that's what I heard.

'We apparently drew away to Grimsby'. March 1976. The commentator said the ref had blown the whistle - game over drawn 1-1 and returned to the studio. Oh well, a points ok. Later the classified check - Grimsby 1 Palace 2 !! Wtf - how ?? The referee adjudged that he had not finished blowing the whistle to end the game before Peter Taylor's shot crossed the line. Imagine the furore if that happened today.

Well the powers that be have issued a grovelling apology to Liverpool because of an error made by the officials in a game which cost them points. Now the Scousers are claiming they should be Champions Of course they have conveniently forgotten the two points gifted them by Friend and Pawson at Selhurst Park. No apology to Palace naturally.

Wouldn't be surprised if Liverpool sue for loss of earnings/status. fecking pikies.
