A lot of backlash at the win online, but it was inevitable really. Interesting that the judges were somewhat more impartial and the European public were the unequivocal aspect. Many thought the opposite would be true. Without a war situation we'd have likely won, so can't really fault second place. Good tune, belted out. That'll do. Edited by BlueJay (15 May 2022 4.10am)

I never watch the actual songs but I switch over for the voting which I find very amusing. I'm pleased that the Ukraine won it for obvious reasons, but I hope the UK doesn't get stuck with putting on this costly luvvy-fest next year. I bet we do though.

According to the news from Moscow, Russia won!
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I heard this morning from David Bull on Talk TV that we are one of only five countries that pay for the whole Eurovision! I doubt that we would’ve won it even without Ukraine getting the “sympathy” vote. We are always going to be on a loser once it goes to a popularity vote from the people of Europe.

Mate, it's 'Ukraine' not 'The Ukraine'. Despite Mr Putin's contrary belief, Ukraine is an independent nation. 'The Ukraine' was used to identify a particular region of the Soviet Union.

I thought it was awful, but then again I liked Czech Republic and that came nowhere, but still, there’s no way that song would’ve won without the sympathy vote. No wonder that fella had that beanie hat down over his eyes, it was out of embarrassment
