Obviously, Eze is the jewel in the crown, sonny boy

Eze could use Gallagher's work rate, and Gallagher could use Eze's natural skills. They are almost exactly opposite players.

In terms of work rate, I think Macca is the closest we have to Gallagher, but Gallagher provides some goals, which Macca doesn't.

All that being said, I think Gallagher doesn't have enough natural skill to start for Chelsea. He got off to a red hot start for us, but since then, hasn't been a scoring threat. If you just saw his last 6-8 matches for us, you'd have no idea what all the fuss is about. I've noticed his first touch often lets him down. These are things that he may get better at, but at the moment, I think he's still riding the hype off his first few matches with us.

It's been a bad scenario where Gallagher got off to such a hot start, that it made it unlikely we could buy or loan him next year. But at the same time, he has cooled off so much that it looks very unlikely he could crack Chelsea's starting lineup. So he's a bit in purgatory. Too good for us, not good enough for Chelsea. No idea where he will be next year, but I'd wager it won't be in Chelsea's starting XI.

Spot on mate with this analysis. How anyone can see Eze and Gallagher as being the same type of player beggars belief IMHO. They bring very different skills (and weaknesses) to the table.

I like the line up Lanzo and a big saving in the wages of the leavers , but would the wages and cost of the incomings outweigh the cost of the leavers . Obviously even if we did get in Conor he would prob blow the budget or most of it unless on loan again of course . I cant see Neiketa or however its spelt coming cheap either . I know he is on a free but would want a signing on fee plus big wages . Maybe sell Eze to Sandcastle to fund it . Ha ha no only joking .

This needs to be said. Our glasses have been heavily tinted with rose after CG's spectacular start. In the last few months though he has looked quite clumsy and some of his passing bordering on atrocious. His only good performance recently was that first half for England.

This does not mean he won't be develop to be a great player. However I disagree that he is too good for us. Currently we have a good number of better players who have performed well without much input from CG.

They are almost completely complementary players. It would be fascinating to hear a 100% frank assessment by Vieira and Gallagher himself of why they think his scoring dropped off and even his overall sharpness. I happen to think other teams paid relatively little attention to him around the box in the first half of the season. Then they wised up...

I'd love to see him here because of his energy, enthusiasm, and connection with his teammates. If he stays, perhaps Vieira would consider playing him less than the full 90 every game from the start of the season. Conor may not yet have developed 38-game stamina for a player with such a high work rate.

I certainly agree that the other teams now take him more seriously & mark him closer but also I think that earlier in the season we had a full complement of midfielders available, then as the season wore on we had yellow cards, suspensions, injuries & the Africa Cup so the line up had to be re jigged to suit who we were playing & who we had available so the role of each individual player in that specific game would have been tweaked to suit the occasion as well.

Top eight squad, no need for Gallagher

Lol you want to get rid of eight squad members and bring in three? Logical. Kouyate, McArthur, Ayew and Clyne are still regular members of the first team for goodness sake.

Two very different players IMHO.

Eze - Skill, technical capability, set pieces, bit of flair.

Gallagher - Industry/energy/work-rate, positioning, ability to join attack yet still fulfill midfield role, can finish/looks to put the ball in the back of the net.

Not a perfect statement by any stretch but they almost have each-others weaknesses as strengths. I would agree on where to play them however, for me they should both be 'attacking midfielders' but it is very rare you see two in the same XI. Eze not a winger for me as has been tried, just don't like it,

Depends which one best fits the team/style/game as we progress (on the assumption CG would stay). I feel like Eze has the capability to make a mockery of weaker teams but for derbies, when your back is against the wall, against 'bigger' clubs I'd rather have Conor in there. I also feel as though Eze has the ability to put in '11 out of 10' performances once for every few '3, 4 or 5 out of 10' performances, whereas Conor will give you 6,7 or 8 out of 10 performances all season. Just my take of course happy to be challenged.

11 out 10 ?? I can’t remember many games where he’s even an 8.
‘Nice player’ for me , the better the opposition the less effective he is.

Yes, all overpaid deadwood, and only Clyne is a regular, wrong as usual.
