Apparently untrue.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

I guess the story did smack of the cliche 'PC gone mad'. I also noticed another story in the link that Jobi McAnuff has joined the FA Board of Directors

Shock Horror, media create storm in teacup over something of little importance. We're all guilty of falling for clickbait whatever our political persuasion and I hate myself for it. It's funny though that the right-wing press are trying to defend a song written by self-declared socialists. Personally I think Lesley Gore's "It's my party" (and I'll cry if I want to) seems more fitting right now.

Must be time to ban Flower of Scotland. If you listen to the words they don't seem to like the English that much.

Three Lions really bothers a lot of people. Seems obvious the 'it’s coming home' (as in a 'we’re definitely winning this'), is a joke. We’re all aware we’ve never seen England win anything but read any comments section re England and it’s full of non-English people convinced that we’re the most arrogant nation on earth and we actually expect to win every tournament. Anglophobia mixed with a misunderstanding of English humour. Not all of us. Those of us of a certain vintage actually witnessed England winning the World Cup.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

It's just a historical reference to the fact that the modern game started in England by the FA and they set up the original rules. Another example of the UK being made to feel they cannot promote any of their history or legacy without worrying about offending someone. The trouble is that there are too many people taking it upon themselves to protect others from being offended when in reality the people supposedly being protected wouldn't have taken offence in the first place.
