The most likely thing to happen here would be burglary but I have a huge, vicious dog. There are often burglaries where I live. Also, if you hang around town drunk in the early hours of the morning you'll probably end up in a fight. We enjoy our drunken violence. Yes, a bit like Croydon , most stabbings are youth gang stuff, and I walk about town most days, even the rough bits and have never had any trouble-not since my going out on the razzle days in my twenties!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Memories, I remember the first week of the P4 bus service, it started at Brockley Rise in those days and on to Brixton. It was about a twenty seater I think, no idea now. Am thinking was 1972/3 I see now the route has changed a lot, it used to be down Forest Hill Rd then Underhill Rd to Lordship Lane Was a real local service with same few drivers who you got to know Edited by HKOwen (30 Apr 2022 1.52am)
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I live less than 5 minutes from BJ. Beckenham is a nice area however I avoid it on Friday and Saturday night as all the idiots from Penge / Lewisham / Downham etc come in for a night out. Groups of young men swaggering around, narrow pavements and then spotting your rivals from another area, do the maths. The worst bit is actually on the bridge because you have a takeaway 2 or 3 pubs and nightclubs so lots of people milling about and like I said a narrow pavement. The rest of the week is fine it is a very middle class area. In the last 20 odd years there have been at least 3 fatal stabbings in this 20 yard area. The locals have tried to close down the night clubs but the police are not interested they know that is where the trouble will be so can manage it. I suppose if it was spread out a bit more they might have to do a bit more work. We used to have a paddy wagon full of cops parked on the corner of the junction and that certainly stopped the trouble but I guess they are now too busy checking their pronouns. PS

But slowly but surely it's being overrun by teenage kids thieving from local shops, robbing people and vandalising property and cars. They don't care about being caught on CCTV. Their images are all over local Facebook pages and I see these ' kids ' walking free every day around town. The Police seemingly are unable or unwilling to do anything. I would guess they are aged around 15-17 years old, but they are mostly six footers - not little kids. We are getting to the point where residents will form a group to protect people and property and patrol the streets. That may just provoke the Police into doing something. As for Beckenham, my old stomping ground, I tend to visit midweek and have never had any problems there at that time.
