I think the main difference is that last season I had stopped looking forward to watching matches, whereas this season I have mostly enjoyed them.

Where exactly do you think Palace can finish in this league?
At our current level of investment, between 10th and 17th is all we can hope for.
To break the top 10 would take a big financial push, and one has to wonder if any chairman in that position would consider it worthwhile to double their spending to get 2 places higher in the league.
To add to that. Top players want top clubs as a rule. You have to attract players irrespective of the money you have to spend. They have to believe you can achieve things in line with their ambitions.
Vieira is more likely to get a better standard of player than the likes of Roy.
Vieira does do some strange things, but I can't remember a manager who hasn't.

I have had this debate outside of HOL.
We might of course have a season where we finish in the top 6, Burnley once finished 5th, but sustaining it is another matter.
Realistically we are not going to finish in the top 8 or 9 on a regular basis unless there is a significantly increased investment in the squad.

I would be inclined to suggest that finishing between 6th-10/11/12th should be the clubs '5 year plan'. Anything beyond that is of course an achievement.

I'll still find it hard to envisage wanting for more than finishing 17th+ with the odd scalp or cup run as a bonus. We look set to achieve that this season.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

If you look at Newcastle as an example, it is clear that they can now spend in line with the top 4 clubs. Top players will see the results over the coming few seasons and consider them as an option.
Palace would obviously need similar owners with almost infinite spending power to achieve the same.
I just hope we can spend in line with last season and establish ourselves as a permanent member of the Premier League and actually win a cup in my lifetime.

Like someone else has said here.....This is the first season in such a long time that I have looked forward to watching palace. I have actually started going on away days this season! I never did that! The last few seasons have been such a chore to watch Palace!

Along with the fa cup run Vieria has brought joy back to football for me!

You win some you loose some! stop getting your knickers in a twist! we normally get our 10 wins a season and we are still on course for it!

I expect more match day revenue is required to finish in and around the top 8. And that means the new stand without repayments causing an issue. That with a successful academy providing players and player sales is what we’ve been missing. We’ve now got the academy but the stadium is more bottom 6 or championship, but really it’s now down to how much money comes in from corporates unfortunately.

Well this season is going down the pan completely, it is clear to me PV is out of his depth, he achieved that was wanted at the beginning, attracted the players, since the Arsenal game we have gone down dramatically, poor selections, woefull subs, a bias towards African players, The "wonderful" Gallagher 17 games since an assist, our best passers, Eze, Hughes and Macca sitting on the bench, a CF that cant play the position, not a sign of any U23 players on the bench, over 70m spent and a worse position the Roy's team, who couldn't field enough players to fill the bench, wake up PV is a naïve, novice manager who hasn't a clue

Wish there was a way I could block your posts as 90% of them are total nonsense. Utter dross merchant.

I think with the investment, it is a poor season so far 10th is the least i would expect, 4 places up, from that outlay, do you think Textor is going to put another 90m in, he wont, we will be looking for free transfers and bargains unless we sell, Edouard is awful, Gallagher is not creative, poor passer, and poor tackling hence 57 fouls and ten bookings, he has a fantastic engine and can finish, a midfield of Kouyate, Schlupp, and Gallagher is unbalanced.
