The 'further regulations' banned the possession of all handguns in the UK as my post stated, previous tory legislation did not. It was opposed by the then tory opposition and many others thought it was going too far. My 'dangerous views' of not having guns? 'Not the brightest' As you no doubt know, Major banned all guns apart from .22 calibre single-shot weapons, like those used in regulated places such as target shooting clubs. Blair quite rightly banned those too - passed on a free vote, so not opposed by the Conservative Party. To try to pretend he was responsible for the earlier, more substantial bans, is your usual twisting of the facts. Your dangerous views that I refer to are your crypto-communist takes on every political issue - apart from child abuse, where you do talk sense. Edited by georgenorman (18 Apr 2022 1.06pm)

the bloke in Sligo appears to have decapitated two gay men. Probably with something like a Kitchen knife. so Gun control is surely less urgent than ideology, culture-war and other stuff. Sir Martin Amess, similar story. islamic radicalization and imported men from war-torn conflict zones. The perpetrators of violence are often themselves victims of other violence. slamming cars into the outdoor-seating at coffee shops. are we going to ban cars & kitchen knives ? I can't imagine anyone advocating 'burning the Koran' here I would certainly expect rioting in that case. Remember we have had rioting over poll taxes and austerity and serious too, there are forecasts of the cost of living crisis spilling over this year. So no lectures to other countries just hope Swedes get a grip and will be ok.

This is a long read, but well worth it. Whilst charting the rise of a populist party, it also sets the current situation in context, contains many echoes of attitudes to be read in these pages, and poses lots of difficult questions. How Islam fits into secular Sweden being the most potent one, in my opinion. I find traces of my own approach to a solution in theirs. Do read the conclusion.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

There is the question still lingering however, why can't Islam be criticised? If it's because Muslims will cause trouble, that's not a good enough reason.

In general, people of different race, religion, language and culture do not live well together and conflict is more or less inevitable. It's human nature, but of course the 'progressives', as usual, try to ignore reality and pretend otherwise.

if i was the Boss of Sweden, i wouldn't even know where to begin. maybe invent Time-travel and go back to 1970 ?.... and then prevent Socialists (& feminists) from ruining the place. Edited by PalazioVecchio (18 Apr 2022 9.19pm)
