Bringing Benteke on yesterday was the right call. It we were going to score, it was always going to be a scrappy set piece, ala Anderson and Kouyate's headed chances. Benteke buries those. Eduoard wouldn't have offered much different to what Eze/Olise/Wilf were I don't think. In saying that, I would definitely like to see more of Eduoard. He's got bucket loads more to offer than Mateta in terms of actual class and footballing ability...for some reason it's just not clicking yet. No he doesn't. Sorry, disagree with that statement, mate.

Some of the misses we have seen from Benteke over the last 5 seasons have been scandalous.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

I get what you're all saying...he does miss some sitters. But mostly on the floor. All opinions aside, if we're going direct and launching balls and set pieces into the box...Benteke is the biggest threat we have. It's pretty hard to deny that.

I think that this shows that we need a good striker next year to acheive our ambitions. JP is the best we have at present by a mile.
Reports of my death are highly exaggerated |

He’s not even that good at his so called strong point anymore though, he’s missed headed chances as well, Leeds away for a start, any of us could’ve put that one in. He just hasn’t got that desire to attack the ball anymore. Not that the one at Leeds needed attacking, it was on a plate for him

Would love him to really find his feet etc. although to my untrained eye that is looking unlikely. Would rather have an extra £10mil to add to war-chest for a sincere acquisition of a ST to come in as our first choice. That would be an ideal scenario along with PV staying for at least a few years to 'build his team' and so forth. However, again, that may be wishful thinking from myself at best.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Regardless of form we still put Tekers on so why not risk 25-30mins with Eduard instead or as well? We certainly didn't give it our best shot & we all know we can certainly do better than we witnessed

I think he’s worth holding on to with the 5 subs rule coming in because he offers something different.

I wouldn't write him off. Could be a big player next season.
