Oh dear, as much as i like what the HF bring to Selhurst, it seems, yet again, they are throwing their toys out the pram. Not as if that hasn't happened before. If they want the respect & co-operation of the rest of the fanbase, engage with them, not against them. I can see a scenario where Wembley themselves(ordered by the FA) removing their flags/banners or not even allowing them into the ground, also, thousands of fans having their flags/balloons etc confiscated before they even get into the ground. C'mon HF, we are ALL Palace!
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

So the HF’s mum has put out this letter to the club, asking them not to put out any kind of display at Wembley. First they stole your name! Then they move loyal fans out of their seats, now this! Is this some kind of joke, or do they seriously think they are the only ones who are allowed to support Palace? Yes they make a bit of noise, but in all honesty they need a lot of help with the displays, some of which are sh!te. Why exactly can’t we turn Wembley Red n Blue? I suggest you attend your nearest pantomime instead of Palace matches and clap like a seal upon demand. Brighton has a good one, they issue clackers too so you'll have a whale of a time The release isn't from 'The Holmesdale Fanatics' it is on behalf of the Holmesdale singing section. Which, as we all know, is unique and is an independent group mildly tolerated by the club. But not consulted unfortunately, nor is there any significant consultation forum in place as far as I know. That is a massive error knowing now more clearly than ever the effect of vocal and unswerving support on the team, the atmosphere and the TV ambiance.

I still have the generic flag the club/ wembley provided from the FA cup final in 2016 as a souvenir. I remember united had similar flags but in red. If it is something similar this time then what is all the fuss about????? It is a massive corporate display which will overshadow the fans display and make our support look like it's a corporate set-up. Have you seen Arsenal? It is really nasty

I think what can rub people up the wrong way is the way HF sometimes talk as if the Palace fanbase had a referendum on the matter they're raising, whereas in fact this is a small section of the fanbase, just the one with the loudest voice. It sounds harsh, but I really don't imagine there are many people outside the HF who really give a cr@p about the displays. Personally I'd rather there was nothing distracting from what all Palace fans can surely agree on and that's beating Chelsea. I think this is a very good point. They so often seem to have what comes across as a belief that they are a self-appointed, cabinet style, spokesperson body for our entire fanbase. There are plenty of course who are at least equally, if not more devout than they are. Unfortunately, our days on knocking back nelsons and charlie are long behind us and we are grateful to just sit down and enjoy the football more often than not, participating in the more traditional sing-songs and overly emotive shouting! I am generally reluctant to knock them, and do enjoy their enthusiasm, however they are not every palace fan, nor should they seek to be separate from the rest of us, especially not by identifying as an elevated or superior class of supporter.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Take a look at the scale of contributions to the displays - and charitable activities - and reconsider that

I plan to pen my own letter personally but will raise it on here too. I am intending to wear my 97/98 home top to the match, with jeans and lacoste trainers. I think it would be an insult to my own personal culture and traditions if anyone were to wear something too similar and ask kindly that they do not. I'm also planning to grow an early Speroni-inspired ponytail and ask that other fans seek other ways to enjoy their barnet so as not to distract from me, including female supporters. I like the HF actually, and do understand the sentiment behind the message, but writing a letter does seem a bit, well, there's plenty of words I will refrain from using but hopefully you get the idea. Are the club were planning their own 'tifo', sponsored by 'x', I doubt it. The club has not admitted to it, the information came from Wembley Stadium. I would guess a giant and overshadowing flag to be passed around but I could be way wrong. This is not a personal flag on each seat for example

Personally, I'd rather go with the HF's plans, so long as it doesn't look like a mickey-mouse attempt to imitate European counter-parts, which on occasions it has! I'd still maintain however pomp and grandeur has it's limits, and I hope the x-thousand of Palace fans provide a raucous atmosphere for the boys beyond the waving of flags etc. although do wholeheartedly welcome that, so long as it doesn't spoil my view!

The club are professional, the HF amateurs, yet we all know the HF will make a better job of the banners.
