She hasn't done anything illegal so what's the problem, she's rich and lucky. The fact that Labour politicians think she is fair game shows exactly that they will plumb the lowest depths to attack their opposition. The fact that a criminal act has been committed by a supposed left wing civil service whistle blower, I hope they find him/her and prosecute to the full extent of the law.

I bet none of the usual lefty jokers on this thread complain when thousands of businesses run by immigrants avoid paying tax by only accepting cash. The very people who are supposedly meant to enrich our country. Not just immigrants either. A whole lot of tradesmen.

That must cost the country millions every year, but let's focus on one woman who is married to a Tory who hasn't broken the law.

you making up quotes to comment on? closest you have ever come to quoting a source or a fact rather than rather abhorrent opinion.

No one left or right should support anyone who does it pay the correct tax.

The purported masses of illegal immigrants working in the cash economy are John st that. Illegal and probably being exploited by someone higher up the feeding chain.

No one is saying what Mrs Sunak has done is illegal but possibly what he did exploiting a green card was.

What she did was just to my mind an example of one thing. The laws benefit the rich who can afford the best advice and to play the system.

She could make amends by paying all the tax she has avoided by her 'non-dom' status.

Fat chance, more likely they will head for the USA.

Next time you hear of a desperate young mother trying to feed 2 kids on £30 a fortnight think of these two parasites playing the system.

If this continues as I think it will, we are looking at civil unrest similar to the austerity riots in 2011.

This is supposed to be the 5th richest country yet the tories are returning to Charles Dickens 'hard times'.

And it makes just about the same economic sense, none whatsoever.

Should we keep on borrowing then to finance the public needs and it looks as if you would like civil unrest.
More waste on policing and repairs but don't worry it's only money!
400 billion on covid. 20 % of gdp. If that had not happened we wouldn't be where we are.

Strange that people don’t see the irony that Sunak sets the rules and also benefits massively from them

Clearly they live off Sunak’s money so Murta doesn’t need to bring money into the country. If she does she is taxed upon it on a remittance basis

So effectively it is our Rishi that directly benefits as the family stashes money offshore either tax free or taxed very little

And then there is the small matter of inheritance tax. It is they, not she, that benefit

No conflict of interest here then…

I can hardly believe that intelligent people can write the ignorant claptrap that appears above. I'm talking not about opinions - everyone is entitled to their own - but about facts, which some of you are either unaware of, or choose to ignore because they don't suit your agenda.

One poster suggests that the Sunaks have "got caught". The fact is that Mrs Sunak has been found to be abiding by the tax rules of this country.

Another says that the rest of us "have to pay their (i.e., the Sunaks') dues". Again, she has been paying her own dues, in accordance with the rules.

Then we have the assertion that "basically the rich pay no tax".
No comment is needed on such an absurd claim.

Finally, someone talks about "the Chancellor's tax-dodging". Really? Do you know something nobody else does?

But it's not just on here that this rubbish is uttered. Last night I heard a respected phone-in host, twice in the space of ten minutes, talking about the Sunaks "wriggling out" of paying their due tax. Another, even more respected, referred to the "scheme" Mrs Sunak has employed to minimise her tax: it's not a scheme, it's a rule which has been in place since 1799.

As I say, all these comments ignore the facts. But for what it's worth, I share the opinion of many that this non-dom rule should at the very least be closely looked at and made fit for purpose.

Rishi Sunak is the chancellor. That is what makes this tastes bad. He’s deciding what tax people pay. Then there’s the green card during his first 18 months as chancellor. Hmmm.
