Key member of the group. Very important player. Seems almost imperative for him to stay here.

Just imagine Doucoure, as well, in the CG role.

I'd take that in two Cheiks of a lamb's tail.

CK is useful as a destroyer but has little creative ability so I won't be upset of he moves on. And if Luka, another of his ilk goes as well then so be it.

I have cracked on about this for years but I repeat:
We desperately need a creative midfielder and while Doucoure looks like a great addition to the squad he is not, but should make an excellent replacement for Kouyate.

What do you call Eze? And you'd be surprised at how creative Hughes can be...I think this is a big season for Will.

I agree

Not sure he’ll make it. But would love to see it.

Amazing to think he cost about £10m four years ago and will go for nothing. If he cost us £50k a week in wages, he's basically been a net outlay of about £5m a year. Perhaps closer to £6m in practice.

I accept prem money is crazy, but that's such a large amount for a guy who, yes he helps us, but isn't an amazing talent.

I don't really see how we aren't doing a lot more selling.

After tomorrow Kouyate, is no longer a Palace player, if no new contract happens today.
The club has its policy it seems on older players, but IMHO Kouyaté versatility alone is going to be missed. Either covering the back three or four, or being part of, he has been an important part of Palace staying in this division and right now we don’t have anyone quiet as good to do what he does, whether in front of defence or in it.
It’s thanks, and good luck from me.

I don't get this at all.

We agree new contracts for 4 players one 34 years of age yet we cannot accommodate Kouyate?

He is still immense I think we will regret it.

We need cover at the centre of the defence and, if we play with three at the back next season that would provide a role for Kouyate alongside Guehi and Andersen.

However, as a free agent he will be able to command a signing on fee plus higher wages so, with regret, we probably can't compete with that.

55 years on the Palace rollercoaster!

It could be money, as a free he might get more elsewhere . But the club seem to have a policy of only going one year at a time with the over thirty players.
Right from the start last year, Viera, was using him in various modes, he can’t be happy to lose a player of his experience and reliability, not easy to replace.

Worth remembering that he'll play at the World Cup in December, and then there's an AFCON next summer. A 2 year contract will see him having played 12 months of non-stop football by the start of next season. Makes the reluctance to offer a 2 year contract a lot more understandable, especially when a good chunk of the rest of the squad will also be at that AFCON.
