Spot on. I think it is clear Wilf is really enjoying his football again and with that the petulance has disappeared. He is playing some of his best football as part of an exceptional team, Long may it continue.

I think he’s thriving on the fact that we’re not so reliant on him anymore, the pressures off. Opponents don’t know what to do either now, it used to be a case of kick him a couple of times early on( yes you Watford and Southampton) wind him up a bit and our main or only threat was out of the game, not the case anymore.

It was an interesting refereeing performance last night. He let a lot of niggles and barging go unpunished but was pretty even handed in his approach which made for an open game. I think Zaha spotted this and was able to give back as much as he received. Also, every time he got hauled to the ground or properly fouled he just smiled and got on with it. Been waiting a while for this version of Zaha and it was great to see.

Totally agree - Mateta is such a handful. Strong in the air, has good pace and knows where the goal is. What an improvement. Still learning (e.g. the odd stupid offside) but definitely 1st choice.

I thought Wilf was great yesterday. Worked really hard from the off, no moaning, and a great run firstly to win the pen, and then take it.

Wow! He won a penalty and then converted it in the same run. Our very own Forrest Gump.

The acid test will be how good can we be when Gallagher is no longer available. He really galvanises the team with his intensity. The semi-final will be a good indication - can we produce enough intensity with Olise / Eze even Hughes.

I'll be honest I reckon if he's given a chance in the cup, I'm expecting Hughes to play like a man possessed and with a point to prove.

You can't replace someone like Gallagher, but I think even without him we'll be just fine.

I think Hughes is the closest we have, or a younger James McArthur, which I'm not sure is technically possible.

Yep, I agree. Crikey, that's the second time I've agreed with you today Palazio.

We have seen some wonderful individual players gracing the Selhurst turf, but this entire team, squad even, seems to be blessed with a quality and camaraderie not seen previously. They are a strong unit and PV must take the credit for creating that positive atmosphere. As others have said, Mateta smiles a lot and even Ayew chuckled during his pm interview. Great to see.

Last night will stay in the memory for a long while and if you knew the state of my memory you'd realise that's quite an achievement!

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Mateta is an object lesson in all the things football supporters don't see and in their rush to judge football players, all too often fail to take into account. Many would have sold him earlier this season because, apparently, he'd failed to make an instant impression at the club. The keyword there is INSTANT. It can take time to settle into a new city, into a new country with a different language, into a new league let alone a new team. Judge players AFTER they've had time to settle; not when they don't score a hat-trick in their first match. Furthermore, he appears to be hard-working, focused, committed and a good squad member even when he's not played. In his darker days, does anyone remember hearing him complain or rocking the boat? Me neither. Massive respect to the man. He's earned all the success now coming his way.

I agree. We might not win the FA Cup, but there is every reason to think we can. I seriously doubt even the top three will take us lightly right now. And with the confidence that's now surging through the team, I doubt we'll lose meekly or beat ourselves any more. The change I've seen in recent weeks isn't so much in performances (much as those have improved) but in self-belief. We are finally playing like we know we belong. Last night wasn't a scalp or an upset; it was simply one good side beating another.

I'm not going to over-egg the pudding. I would say simply what we are now is a top ten Premier League side (by which I mean we are comfortably mid-table, and our true position is somewhere between 7th and 12th place). There is no reason to anticipate another relegation struggle any time soon. And we have the foundation to be even better than that. Unlike 1990 where our third place was essentially a flash in the pan, this team has the potential to last.

Whether it happens this season or not, I fully expect Palace's first major trophy and first appearance in Europe to arrive over the next couple of seasons. That's not wishful thinking. That's the realistic bar we should now be setting ourselves. Less would be a disappointment. That's right; a disappointment. It's time to believe.

The future is certainly bright, but the top half are watching with interest thinking about who they’ll want to tempt away from us, and that’ll include PV. Most replacements will need to succeed like they virtually all have just recently. I hope we can attract some decent midfielders who can play in our own half with the ability to pass/attack because we only have Hughes and Kouyate who we own for that area and aren’t close to or about to retire.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a surprise bid and a player leave almost unexpectedly to fund squad management. Olise, Guehi, Mitchell I expect to be our most valuable assets teams might be looking at. Chelsea have first option on Guehi so I don’t know how that affects transfer fees.

It’s been a great achievement this season, far exceeding expectations, but there’s some big challenges ahead. One thing you can guarantee is Parish getting good fees. Hopefully the same standard of scouting and recruitment can continue, but we’re going up a level so we’ll see.

I believe they only have first option if we are willing to accept a bid for him from another club and Chelsea decide they will match it and take him back. We are short of quality CBs and will probably be in the market for another one in the summer to strengthen that area. Don't see us selling Guehi in a hurry unless we get a very silly offer.
