Whilst it can certainly be argued that we are going backwards, (players sold against incoming, with / without replacements) I think in this case its more about Sandcastle progressing, as they will do each transfer window now that they have deep pockets - It gets tougher each year to stay in this league as teams reinforce, in many ways its a good thing for us there are 3 teams coming up as there is a fair chance that at least one of them (possibly 2) will fill a relegation slot. Has said these many times, Schlupp might be all right coming on with 15-20 minutes to go and we are chasing a goal. But he should never be in a PL starting lineup. And still, Vieira picks him game after game.

Schlupp’s main strength is his pace and power but over all he is an average football player. Someone on here said the other day that he is like a wind up toy that you point in a direction and hope for the best. That is spot on for me.

Beggars can't be choosers when you look at our current midfield options. Picking Hughes over Schlupp is not going to make us much better - the other options make us far worse. This was why it was important we strengthened central midfield. Kouyate would have been fine too.

To damn them with faint praise both Schlupp and Ayew are useful squad members who should not be ever present members of the first team if we have genuine aspirations to push for a top 10 place.

Playing ayew and schulpp gives us a better defensive midfield. It totally depends who we are playing and if we are at home or away.

Played well this weekend. Not sure he is helped that much in midfield with Eze wandering around waiting for someone to give him the ball. Fella needs to help out when we dont have the ball.

Ah, so it's not just me then. Eze was poor yesterday. Offered little, gave the ball away and caught in possession a couple of times. Never looked like beating his man.

And Wilf looked totally disinterested which was disappointing. Hopefully both bounce back and star next week.

It seems to be widely acknowledged on here that Schlupp is not the answer in central midfield although it's recognised that he is a good player who can have a positive impact from the bench.

Should read 'overly dependent on Doucoure. '
