Why embarrass yourself by complaining about time wasting? Everyone does it. Edited by Rachid Rachid Rachid (16 Mar 2022 9.05am) Indeed City are masters at it. Not sure why he felt the need to speak to VG, surely it’s the ref who adds time on and Atkinson obviously saw nothing wrong as he did not speak to VG.

The media has a love in with foreign coaches of the big six especially, Wenger, Pep, Klopp, Jose etc. However great they are they are the same as the rest of the managers, when they win it's all smiles and charm and when they don't get the result......

Managers are interviewed after a game when emotions are still raw and I suppose it is understandable that on occasions they do not hide their anger and disappointment after their team has not achieved a favourable result. I can assure you that I am no lighthouse of joy after we have suffered a defeat and I am still simmering after I arrive home on the south coast after a long drive from the ground. My dear wife, on a few occasions has cancelled a planned meal etc on a Saturday after we have been beaten as she simply has no desire to be in my company when I am in nostril flaring mode and thoroughly miserable to boot. Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Wot about our foreign manager? Fair point. By the way I wasn't criticising foreign manager but the media love fest. At the moment PV is well liked by the media and within our club so an insider told me. But like every other manager when things don't go well will he be so laid back? Even Roy used to throw a wobbler at the medi every now and then. Big Sam had a point about if he was called Sam Alladcihi he would have been treated differently by the media.

On the time-wasting front, I thought it was very interesting that Ralph Hassenhutl was accusing the Watford team of excessive time wasting, considering his teams continual antics with the 61 minute drinks break:

Guardiola started by blanking Patrick in the handshake and then clearly caused Vincente discomfort which was puzzling to me but he was clearly fuming. I would have thought the media might have picked up on it as it seemed a really odd thing to do. It has tarnished his image for me too, the grass comment was a laughable diversion after their 3rd loss to Palace in his time, hope Vincente feels very proud to have brought on the scorn of his venerable countryman.

Well... I suppose it's plausible. I don't really recall any obvious time wasting, but I was quite a nervous wreck. Regardless, I think City's lack of substitutions was more significant to their lack of goals than us using up 15, 20, 30 seconds here and there, in a game that lasted almost 100 minutes. Going into that last ten minutes I was so worried about Sterling or whoever coming on, fresh and vibrant, and our exhausted defenders just momentarily losing their man in the tactical re-shuffle. But it never happened. I'm not going to put the boot in, because I have no problem with Guardiola. But perhaps he should have focused more on what he could influence... like the 11 players he had on the pitch. Guaita, I have to say, did take any opportunity to drag out goal kicks for as long as could. I suspect Palace fans would have been as equally riled as the City fans and players were had similar tactics been employed against us (which of course they have been!). Atkinson did point to his watch on several occasions and I suspect a portion of that 5 minutes added time may have attributable to this.
