I take it you wrote this before you were aware of the Chelsea position. Much more likely that he is tied to Chelsea now surely.

Why? Apparently, Abramovich used to deposit regularly into Chelsea's accounts. As it stands, there's slightly less than £20million in there, the monthly wage bill is £28million. It would be the understatement of the century for me to say I am not too sure of the situation and am not very well versed on the sanctioning of Oligarchs, the financial implications, and the running of football clubs. I don't think Gallagher will stay, as much as I'd like him too, it may even be impossible if the sanctions impact their ability to loan a player out, but the situation certainly does seem far worse then I originally (and ignorantly) assumed. We may well see Chelsea 'downsizing' as a club and who knows what implications that will have. Perhaps CG will actually be far better off as a footballer, financially and otherwise, staying at the Palace if at all possible. Just wishful thinking on my behalf perhaps and post most likely in need of clarification from somebody more knowledgeable of the situation, or just generally with an IQ above the diagnose-able 'simpleton' level. Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

There is also the nightmare scenario we lose Wilf, Olise rumoured release clause triggered, conor returns to Chelsea and two disillusioned players Edouard and Eze push for moves and even a possible big bid for Guehi.

If we could sell Eze for £45m I would take it. He’s a really good - potentially great - player but don’t see where he fits into our team. Can see a RB and Gallagher replacement coming in. Can’t believe Jach might be leaving. I fear for us next season.

Conor playing for the Chelsea first team and at the heart of a new slimmed down, lower wage club is one of the more likely consequences. If he is going to be sold to raise funds to pay the £28m monthly wage bill of the contracted players to prevent bankruptcy before a sale can be made, which has got to be a very tricky deal, then presumably Newcastle will be the likely destination. With oil at $200 any transfer fee for the Saudi owners, £50m / £100m will be largely insignificant except over the longer term for Financial Fair Play. They won't be worried about that this summer though.
